What would Jesus do about 9-11

A small church in Florida says it plans to burn copies of the Quran on 9-11. An AP story has top U.S. and NATO commander in Afghanistan, Gen. David Petraeus saying Tuesday an American church's threat to burn copies of the Muslim holy book could endanger U.S. troops in the country and Americans worldwide.

I think they should have a legal right to do this, but I think it is very un-Christian and wrong-headed.

The General is right in that it could spark additional extremism on the part of radical muslims. It gives them yet another tool to stir up anger and hate. Whether it ticks off the radical muslims is not a reason to not do something, but at the same time, why give them ammunition?

Just as I have said Muslims should condemn and distance themselves from the radical fringe if they do not want to be identified with them, I think Christians should condemn and distance themselves from this radical extremist evangelical group in Florida.

They have 50 members, so not exactly a big influence, but it does show what the internet can do. They have used the internet to get a whole lot of publicity, and to stir up hate against muslims. And now even the AP is giving them free publicity. I would imagine they have received a good bit of money as a result of all their publicity.

This is a good example of politics taking over religion. I really cannot imagine Jesus doing something like that. The scriptures say do not repay evil with evil, but rather with good.

The essence of Christianity is asking the God who made us to help us give all we can in service to him. The goal of idolatry is self-glory, the aim of Christianity is God's glory!

    Maybe that is the difference?

God doesn't need Great Temples or Mosques - he desires the temples (bodies and souls) of people!

The God of Christianity is more interested in you than he is in any thing you can build in tribute to him!

    Jesus wasn't man made!

  2. I noticed that you have used the term 'radical extremists' to apply to both the muslims who murder people and the christian pastor who is only going to burn books. seems to me that therein lies the real problem. How in the name of all that you hold dear, can you choose to describe both actions (one that is sneaky, underhanded mass murder, and the other that is an openly planned, publicized, and organized event) with the same adjectives? The bible also says that christ is THE ONLY WAY to salvation, and not to encourage those who are in error in their beliefs as you then become an enabler to help spread the message they wish to deliver

  3. He seems pretty radical to me. And obviously it is a publicity stunt. I saw where he is about to lose his building for not paying his payments, so ... what better way to get out of debt and get your building paid off eh ?
This pastor is not proclaiming the message of Christ, the bible, nor the established church in general.
I dont see any effort on his part to turn people from their error.
The bible says Dont repay evil with evil ... how hard is that to understand?

  4. you don't see any effort to turn people from their error???!!! he is going to burn the quran, which is of the devil. read the bible, point to anywhere it says to accomodate those who do not follow christ

  5. I would have a lot more respect for a pastor who could actually exegete the scriptures to show - biblically and with reason - what is error.
Burning a couple books is no big deal, and does nothing to convince anyone of anything.
Can you imagine some muslim in iran thinking ... wow,. this pastor in florida usa burned a quran, i must repent !!!
There just needs to be some thinking done here.

  6. we are all pretty good at seeing the mote in anothers eye, but can't see the beam that is our own. I don't know what JC would do about 911, but I do know what the bible says he will do when he returns...."Seeing it is a righteous thing with God to recompense tribulation to them that trouble you; And to you who are troubled rest with us, when the Lord Jesus shall be revealed from heaven with his mighty angels, in flaming fire taking vengeance on them that know not God, and that obey not the gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ" IIthes. ch1 v6-8 God is a jealous and vengeful God, and it is about time for the world to see that with their own eyes

  7. Does not the book of Exodus say and eye for an eye?

21:22 If men strive, and hurt a woman with child, so that her fruit depart from her, and yet no mischief follow: he shall be surely punished, according as the woman's husband will lay upon him; and he shall pay as the judges determine.
21:23 And if any mischief follow, then thou shalt give life for life,
21:24 Eye for eye, tooth for tooth, hand for hand, foot for foot,
21:25 Burning for burning, wound for wound, stripe for stripe.

Ye shall eat the flesh of the mighty, and drink the blood of the princes of the earth.--Ezekiel 39:18

  9. @1:26 - to take scripture like this literally, is to negate everything Jesus said and did the first time he was here.

Why would a God of peace. love, mercy, forgiveness; a God who says love your enemy, turn the other cheek, do not repay evil for evil, forgive 70x7 times... Why would that God come back with such violence and vengeance... blood flowing as high as the bridles of horses...

It's schizophrenic. Jesus would have to come back and say, "all that stuff... I was wrong."
    "It doesn't work..."

If that's the case, that's not the God I want to worship...

  10. Well JJ,

I think there is a bigger picture than just who's side is God ON!

    It's who's on God's side?

If you look there are challenges to Christianity from every direction and both internally and externally as a Country who was founded on the Basic Belief In THE GOD OF THE BIBLE!

You have to wonder if the thrashing of fields hasn't already started?

  11. Christians have been killing muslims for thousands of years, the crusades were some of the most brutal of all mass killings in the world next to hitler and his escapades.
Why is it not ok to fight satan with the same tools he fights us, have we becamse so placent and political correct that we forget that the price of life and freedom is the death of those who fight for it?
Why do we think we can huddle in a corner and watch the rest of human kind fight for its very exsistance and expect our lord to reward us,, I think him to be very much like a parent who would watch his son run and pee his pants as a bully half his size would try to scare him,, totaly embarased to think of you as his child

  12. @4:24pm

It is not really a matter of what kind of god you want to worship, but rather a matter of what does the bible say that god is. I agree with 1:26, he is a jealous god and will bring down vengeance when he returns, besides, he doesn't really care WHAT KIND OF GOD YOU WANT TO WORSHIP he is that he is. And if he is such a loving god of mercy, then why has he forced us to accept children dying??!!

  13. Why is it not ok to fight satan with the same tools he fights us,

Because the BIBLE says not to...

have we becamse so placent and political correct that we forget that the price of life and freedom is the death of those who fight for it?

Im all for fighting for freedom. Stupid publicity stunts in the name of God, is not fighting for freedom.. Tell me how burning a stack of qurans is going to make a bit of difference in the battle against anything ?
If this guy is serious, why is he not using his own money to buy them and why has he not been doing it privately for years. Why the need to announce it to make national news etc.,
Why must he wait for national TV to catch up to him first ?

  14. How is one nutcase in florida burning a few books standing up to Islam? How is it standing up against Evil?
What possible good can come from it?

    well, one less koran, obviously

  16. I see no difference between burning a stack of bibles and Building a mosque at ground zero. Both are covered under the first amendment, and both are totally legal. Except that every one of the liberals I've heard speak is outraged at burning the quran, but thinks it's okay to build the mosque. The Afghans are marching in protest chanting "DEATH TO AMERICA" over one dipsh!t burning their bible, but WE are intolerant because we don't want a mosque at ground zero. How's that for tolerance?

  18. I think that people are afraid of the Muslims. Remember what happened when 1 guy drew a silly cartoon? Remember what happened when 1 little boy (as was supposed) named his teddy bear Muhammed? Face it. Muslims are nuts. Funny ain't it? No one gets up in arms when they burn, spit on the American flag. Or when someone makes "so-called" art of Jesus and calls it "p!ss christ". (all paid for with your tax $$, BTW) No one gets their panties in a bunch when a bunch of degenerates attempt to force the Israeli blocade and nearly kills their soldiers. No one screams like a stuck pig when the Muslims in Palestine cheered on 9/11. I personally don't care if he burns them or not. Funny how the church is so weak kneed that we immediately say "turn the other cheek". Man oh man, I am soooo glad that Churchill wasn't a panty waist. If the Muslims took over the U.S.A., they would immediately begin the mass executions of those who resist. They would make our women concubines, our men & boys (who they let live) into eunechs & slaves. WE ARE INFIDELS. Know what they say: DEATH TO THE INFIDELS. If they did, most christians today and particularly liberals would be 1st in line to surrender. Weak, weak, weak. I choose to resist. Don't give me that wwjd cr@p. There is a being "persecuted for righteous sake". There is also a right that belongs to every human being to defend themselves, and their home and I believe their homeland. If it were up to me...I would pull ALL our troops from Iraq & Afghan tomorrow and then push the BUTTON. That's our only hope. Amazing that the liberals & weak christians still think we can "dialog". How on earth can you dialog with a guy who tells you going in that if you give me the upper hand, I will take you out. Want to see that joke played out? Look at Israel and the Palestinians. We constantly force Israel to the table with people who are sworn to destroy them. What's to dialog. If they asked my opinon, I'd say clean the swamp.

  19. From the CNN Live Blog of the Interview of the Imam who is building the Mosque in NYC:

[Updated, 9:28 p.m.] Rauf reiterated that the issue about what to do with the center going forward is important for national security.

"If we don't do this right, anger will explode in the Muslim world," Rauf said. "... If we don't handle this crisis correctly, it could become something very dangerous indeed."

He said moving the project to another location would strengthen Islamist radicals' ability to recruit followers and will increase violence against Americans.

He said again that if he knew ahead of time the controversy this would create, he wouldn't have made the plans to build the center at the currently planned site.

    -----------

Now why would you let people of other countries around the World tell you what to do in your own Country?

  20. [Updated, 9:40 p.m.] O'Brien asked about his interview with CBS's "60 Minutes," shortly after the 9/11 attacks, in which he said the United States' policies "were an accessory to the crime."

O'Brien asked twice, but Rauf deflected the question.

"The work we have to do now is not about pointing fingers," he said, as part of his response.

    -------------

Who is WE and what is their work?
Sorry but I don't think its all about a Mosque it's building site or finding unity as a goal!

    ReplyDelete
  21. @9:16 Now why would you let people of other countries around the World...
Answer: because we're weak. we have so-called leaders at the helm who have no spine. We have the best military in the world, yet we tie the hands of the ones who can save us.

@9:30 Sorry but I don't think its all about a Mosque...
The Muslims rejoice in their homes at what we do to appease them. What would happen if we decided to build a memorial to Japanese pilots at or near Pearl Harbor? How many churches could we build in Riyadh or Tehran? Ya know we could, those Muslims are so tolerant. Oh, did you know a Muslim woman can be killed for exiting home without a husband or male family member? Oh, and women are not allowed to drive. A gay man or woman would be stoned to death. It's the law. (Sharia law) Oh, I forgot, Islam is a religion of peace.

This country is digging a very nice and tidy politically correct grave for itself. The Muslims would NEVER tolerate for a second in their countries what we let them come over here and do. Worse yet, we apologize to them.

    Luke 23:36-43

The Soldiers also came up and mocked him. They offered him wine vinegar and said "If you are the king of the Jews, save yourself."
There was a written notice above him, which read: THIS IS THE KING OF THE JEWS.
One of the criminals hurled insults at him: "Aren't you the Christ? Save yourself and us!"
But the other criminal rebuked him. "Don't you fear God" he said, "since you are under the same sentence? We are punished justly, for we are getting what our deeds deserve. But this man has done nothing wrong."
Then he said, "Jesus, remember me when you come into your kingdom."
Then Jesus answered him, "I tell you the truth, today you will be with me in paradise."

watch the spider eat from within his web and you shall see a muslim build a temple upon your home to worship his God. which by the way is just as jelous and fearsome as the god of all christians
