  1. JJ,

Did they ever give an explanation of Step Family day? Why it deserves a declaration of celebration?

The national group, maybe the state group, requested it, so the city just said ok

  4. I would guess it is supported by people who admire folks who parent children who are not of their own flesh and blood with as much love, patience, nurturing and care as they would (or do) their own.

Takes quite a bit of love and emotional well being - more importantly spiritual maturity - to finish what others started when it applies to child rearing.

Step-children aren't just from divorced homes. Some have lost parents at an early age. Some are children of one of the thousands of soldiers who gave their life to protect your right to joke about their children receiving care from a step-mother or step-father.

Some of those are parents who married am unwed parent and have formed a beatiful family from out of a difficult situation. Pretty much all of them are folks who would not go out of their way to trample the feelings of others in the was that 4:36pm just did.

All in favor say Aye! All oppsed say "LOL"

You know I don't think I quite got the message you were trying to convey about Step Family Day!

Should we have Step-Mothers Day and Step- Fathers day?

I think I could buy just a plain old celebration of Family Day!

    AND

No child can pick their parents - if they could????

The fact is I don't disagree with Families or the Family Structure but statisics don't lie and broken or dysfunctional families doesn't bode well for a healthy Society!

  8. •In 2004, the state with the highest reported divorce rate was Nevada, at 6.4 (per 1,000). Arkansas was a close second, with a divorce rate of 6.3, followed by Wyoming at 5.3.
