Gone to Texas

Hello everyone.
I think there are still a few readers out there. I have taken a job down around Texas and will be starting there very soon .. as in later this week. Its been in the works for awhile and that is one reason i did not file for the commission race but it was not official until this past weekend.
Anyways, Ill not be around Arkansas City much anymore. Just on weekends for awhile, before we make the move. That is assuming things work out well there. But if not ill come back and see what happens then.
So a new adventure will begin late this week. I am being intentionally vague about where the job is for a good paranoid reason. :)
So just wanted to say adios.
Ill leave the blog up for awhile so you all can cuss and discuss everything.
Or if people let me know they are still interested in reading it, i might post weekly for awhile.
Hopefully ill fare better than Davy Crockett. When he left Tennessee, after he lost his bid for reelection to congress, he said, to heck with you all, im going to Texas. He went from there to the Alamo.

one thing I have noticed is that your jesushunter site seems to have gone by the wayside as well, must not be much interest in it either. Anyway, good luck to you, can't blame you for getting out of this 'den of thieves'

  3. Well good luck to you in Texas. You are still in the SOUTH so you'll fit right in - but be cautious I hear they still like to drag liberal newsmen behind their horses:)!

    And

Everything is bigger in TEXAS - EVEN THE SPIDERS ;)!

But, the important thing is that you are accountable for your own efforts/talents! I hope you find a place where you can use them to make a difference!

    So, GOOD LUCK!

  7. jj, I for one wish you all the best. Now there will be no place for us to meet/discuss/cuss/fuss. jk, i don't do much cussin' & fussin' but the blog is a good place to find out what's up. kind of like the old men meeting in the coffee shop to "discuss" daily events. Only in a virtual sense.

Do hate to see you move. Stay in touch.

    Godspeed!

It hasn't been that for quite awhile, but it was fun back when it was going strong.

New budget campaign asks 'What would Jesus cut?'

By Dan Gilgoff, CNN Belief Blog Co-Editor

A coalition of progressive Christian leaders has taken out a full-page ad that asks “What would Jesus cut?” in Monday’s edition of Politico, the opening salvo in what the leaders say will be a broader campaign to prevent cuts for the poor and international aid programs amid the budget battle raging in Washington.

“They’re talking about cutting bed nets for malaria and leaving every piece of military spending untouched,” said the Rev. Jim Wallis, who leads the Christian group Sojourners, referring to Republican spending proposals for the rest of this year.

“Are we saying that every piece of military equipment is more important than bed nets, children’s health and nutrition for low-income families?” said Wallis, whose group paid for Monday’s ad. “If so they should be ashamed of themselves.”

The ad and the broader campaign are aimed mostly at a spending measure passed by the Republican-led House of Representatives that cuts $61 billion from current spending levels, including cuts to Head Start, the Women Infants and Children (WIC) program and international aid programs.

But the leaders are also lobbying the Obama administration to forego proposed cuts to programs like college grants and heating assistance to low-income Americans in the 2012 federal budget.

House and Senate negotiators are trying to find consensus on a temporary spending measure to avert a government shutdown. Republican House Speaker John Boehner is pushing a short-term spending plan that would cut $4 billion.

The Republican-led House already passed a spending measure that cuts $61 billion from current levels for the rest of the fiscal year, which ends on September 30. However, Senate Democrats consider those cuts draconian and won't pass them.

Monday’s “What would Jesus cut?” ad is signed by dozens of Christian leaders, including evangelicals like David Beckman, president of the charity Bread for the World, and author Brian McLaren.

"Cutting programs that help those who need them most is morally wrong," Beckmann said in a statement. "Reducing the federal deficit is critical for our nation's long term health but it should not be done at the expense of the most vulnerable. When Jesus talked about how God will judge nations, he said that God will focus on what we did or did not do for the neediest among us."

Sojourners recently ordered 1,000 “What would Jesus cut?” bracelets for its supporters to send to their representatives in Congress, then ordered 2,000 more when the initial batch ran out. The group says its backers have sent 10,000 "What would Jesus cut?" emails to Capitol Hill.

Wallis said that he and other Christian leaders are meeting in Washington this week to strategize on ways to prevent lawmakers from cutting programs it supports. They are urging cuts in defense spending instead.

“The most corrupt government spending is military spending,” Wallis said. “Its cost overruns, outdated weapons systems, welfare checks to military contractors.”

“This is a biblical choice of swords into plowshares directly and the House Republicans want to beat our ploughshares into more swords," he said. "These priorities that they’re offering are not just wrong or unfair, they’re unbiblical.”

On Sunday, Boenher gave a speech that framed the government’s mounting debt as a moral issue.

"We have a moral responsibility to address the problems we face. That means working together to cut spending and rein in government - not shutting it down," Boehner said. "This is very simple: Americans want the government to stay open, and they want it to spend less money. We don't need to shut down the government to accomplish that."

Boehner's remarks were included in a speech he delivered to the National Religious Broadcasters annual convention in Nashville.

    So, What Would Jesus CUT?

  14. The 'Rev.' jim wallace does not know what the Bible says apparently ! He is one of those who preach of social justice, and I challenge anyone to cite the KJV Bible as to where it says that 'nations' will be judged by what they do collectively. The 'swords to plowshares' reference is from the book of Isaiah, and if he makes the reference of which you quoted him, then it is painfully obvious that he is a contributor to the apostacy of the church

  15. So, What Would Jesus CUT?

  16. @11:38

I'm confused as to whether you are sacreligious or just trying to be funny?

    ReplyDelete
  17. I took it as an attempt at humor. But if you read the New Testament, this practice was done away with. So, no, Jesus would not cut that.
He would raise taxes on the rich though, and not cut programs that actually help people who need help.

Im having a good time here.
went to a tennis tournament yesterday, baseball games today and tomorrow.
still not found a place to live yet, but hopefully today.

  18. JESUS WOULD HEAL THE SICK OR MAIMED, AND HE WOULD FEED THE POOR!!! Show me ONE biblical reference that backs up your claim that Almighty God would use the government and/or taxes.

  19. 10:17,

Why do I have to choose between the two? I was actually going for both. Glad you enjoyed it so much.

"And the unicorns shall come down with them, and the bullocks with the bulls; and their land shall be soaked with blood, and their dust made fat with fatness." -Isaiah 34:7 (King James Version)

    Yep. UNICORNS!

  20. nope
Isa 34:7 And the wild oxen will fall with them, the bull calves and the great bulls. Their land will be drenched with blood, and the dust will be soaked with fat.

  21. yep,UNICORNS

The unicorn is actually mentioned about 9 different times in the bible (KJV), and when properly translated,( not as in the NIV,where it is translated as a wild oxen) it is easily shown that there are 3 species which would fit the accuracy of the bible: the Javan rhinoceros, the Indian rhinoceros, and the now extinct elasmotherium, which has been discovered through archeological excavations.

If you 'bing' or 'google' "the biblical unicorn", you will find much more evidence to uphold the existence of the animal than what you will find to discount it by your 'mythical' view
