city commission ?

What do you all think about the candidates for city commission. I understand they wrote answers for the paper, but i didnt read the article.
Time is flying, hard to believe its been so long since i have posted. I am fairly busy here. Getting adjusted to new surroundings takes time.
So talk about the candidates if you like, but please no slanderous stuff or criminal allegations.

  1. The Traveler poll has Dotty Smith out in front, which makes me believe that there are either a lot of stupid people in this town, or a few stupid people who have voted multiple times. The polling is very unscientific, and so easy to sway on their website by clearing your browser and voting again, but some people could look at that and vote for her because they think the majority of people like her.

  4. I can understand the apathetic view on candidates, and the voting for that matter. From my personal experience, if the commission (no matter who they may be) is approached by someone with negative input as to how the city is being run, they are immediately dismissed as a troublemaker. Documented evidence, as well as personal 'testimony' can be presented to them, and it lands on deaf ears ; whether the concern expressed is of small financial mishandling or large. I'm so disgusted with being ignored-which then substantiates past and future negligence of handling public funds, that I will probably not even vote anymore!!!!

  5. Arkansas City City Commission (unofficial results as of 8:50 p.m.)

    •Joel Hockenbury — 788
    •Charles Tweedy III — 705
    •Chad Giles — 648
    •Jean Snell — 501
    •Ron Hirst — 431
    •Dotty Smith — 330

Looks like the first poster was right about a few people voting multiple times. Smith was trounced! She should have known better than to run again. At least Kuhn was smart enough to know he didn't have a chance.
