Do you suppose you can post the minutes of todays Stother Field Commission meeting on your blog?
You see I am interested to see how they ruled on signage at Strother Field? (I saw it on their agenda in the newspaper.)
The GE employee union purchased a LED message board (that cost $$,$$$)! They ran into trouble when it was questioned whether it would distract drivers on 77 or maybe even pilots? Never mind ALL THOSE RUNWAYLIGHTS and the fact that there is already a time and temperature sign at the old HNB ATM!
I would really like to see if the board members voted in favor or against PROGRESS!
Btw: Do you think they have ever considered approaching KDOT about reducing the highway speed from North of StrotherField to the New Hospital entrance? (Too bad they are probably more worried about a little old sign!)
Yeah, I can think of at least 3 deaths and probably two or more accidents that could or should have been fatalities! Three entrances/exits and a RRX. Now more activity to the South at the new hospital!
signs do not cause accidents,it is a proven fact that most accdents are caused from performing intercourse while operateing a motor vehical in heavy traffic
How fortunate for the union they have $$$$$$ to blow on a sign. Perhaps they could do something for those less fotunate or to better the community. Wait, I know some of them - that would never happen. Oh, well.
Btw: I found out what I wanted to know and no thanks to JJ!
They voted to disallow that sign!
But I also found out that Strother Field has avoided the recession - at least their manager and employess got a raise!
I wonder if when it gets to a lower number of employees/businesses and more empty buildings and they still have money coming in - if they can reach 100% profitability? (0 is a perfect number) (Just kidding but their are two totally different approaches to GROWTH! Use the PUBLIC's money or support/encourage PRIVATE SECTOR INVESTMENT!)

The Hike/bike trail that was passed and the sign that failed were brought to you by some of the same people!

You're way exaggerating. How about we look at it like this. Why should we have a police department? Why should the government tell me i can't commit what it calls a crime? See you can take anything to a crazy level. Its not a real question of the government owning or deciding everything. Most of us want a police department. but ... why not have everyone protect their homes with their own weapons and not have any law enforcement ??? Isnt having law enforcement giving the police control? I think this whole giving government control is a smokescreen. You probably do want government control in some areas .. property rights. protection from stealing and fires, water, sewer etc., but in other areas you dont. what about marijuana. why do the people so against government control want the government to tell people what they can smoke ? or want the govt. to tell people who can get married _ gay marriage. or even allowing the government to tell people they cant drive drunk and kill people in wrecks .. theres lots of areas where you want government control. so im just saying the government control thing is not a real issue..
Well your kind of coming around - but the Government as defined in our Constitution does outline the role of Government as it relates to the rights of U.S. Citizens!
Its when People, Businesses, Corporations, Aliens/Immigrants and or Foriegn Governments want to use our Government to their benefit that it becomes a PROBLEM!
So, instead we find ourselves using Government as a tool for which it was never intended!
In business the markets can do a more than adequate job of determining the winners and losers. Except when we regulate or subsidize them to the point the market no longer is about competition! (The Government determines the winners and losers!)
As for the Government owning all the property? If you see Government as "We the People" then they do! In a Democracy or Republic!
If you see Government as The Public Services, Departments, Administrations, Programs or elected officials? Who can make/adopt policies, laws, incentives with/for the intent/sole pupose of control/regulation/uniformity?
I think you have to lean toward Socialism and even Communism!
In the example of the sign! It was no doubt decided in advance that sign was not wanted!
While I don't know all the details I doubt there was ever a discussion on the placement, height, brigtness (I doubt those who made the decision are even aware of the technology of LED signs) or content!
You see progress can be killed before it has a chance to happen!
I don't think of all those accidents even the ones that resulted in death at those Casinos South of Arkansas City in Oklahoma!
I ever heard one of them blamed on that Million Dollar LED Sign out front or the artisic structure of the Indians hunting buffalo on the adjacent hill!
I guess there is still time for an Abulance chaser to figure that one out for a big quick BUCK!
As you can tell I am extremely disappointed in the local Public Officials both Winfield and Ark City and how they view PROGRESS! That is about the poorest excuse for denying that sign they could have fabricated!

Well I guess that depends on if you believe the Government should/already owns everything and you just get to borrow, rent or use it!
