State of the site

City Commission worksession is today at 5:30 p.m. I hope to have a live blog going, so tune in if you can.
There has not been as much on here lately. For one thing Ive been gone, and for another, I dont have as much time to work on it. I am writing a lot for some internet companies now, actually making some money, so I have had to cut back some on the site.

I am curious about people's reading habits. Do you read both this and the website? Some people call this the website, but there is a separate thing called the website. I am getting the impression that a lot of people read one or the other. dont know if that is right nor not. They have a lot of the same material, but there is more opinion here.

Shop online to support the site

I have a lot of affiliate ads I can put on here, and on the site, which wont result in popups. They are links to various products and stores .. such as best buy, shoes for less and so forth. If you click on the ad, it takes to their site. If you buy something I will get a commission.
You can also get a discount by going through the ads here.
I have access to thousands of those. So far I have guessed at what people might like to see. If I knew what types of produces or brands you want to see, I could probably get them and post them.
What products do you, or would you, shop for online?
If you are concerned about security while shopping online, I would recommend getting a free paypal (www.paypal.com) account. That is very secure and easy to use.
So let me know what ads you want to see ..

  1. Pretty much just read the blog. No intentions to buy anything through the site. If I'm looking for something, I google it, and look for the best deals there.

Site has been kind of lack-luster lately.
Perhaps a daily open forum would spark some interest, plus a topic of your choosing...

    Just a suggestion.

  2. I read the blog. Rarely go to the site. Don't shop online much. Amazon if I do. I hope everyone understands that you have to have an income and that this is community service on your part. Thanks. Anyone has an idea for a better mousetrap, I say go for it.

Hey: Just in: The Gulf oil spill is Bush's fault. Chris Dodd says... give me a break!

  3. Yea i saw that. There are others blaming Obama.
I also saw one person saying you shouldnt blame the oil company, but rather the u.s. consumers who "made them do it."
We do live in interesting times eh.

  4. Unlike past Presidents:

President Obama will NOT be attending services at Arlington Cemetery. (going to honor Paul McCartney or something)

Too busy vacationing to memorialize our Honored dead.

  5. It's the environmentalist's fault. They wouldn't allow shallow water drilling.

  6. I just read the blog

  7. Can you get a link to shop online at Lowes? That is my favorite store of all time. I just wish we had one locally.

  8. Actually, many President's have missed the Arlington Wreath laying for one reason or another. Even Ronald Reagan. (One year was because he had just been shot.)

I am more interested in getting to the bottom of the Sestak scandal.

Yep, many presidents have missed the ceremony. Often to take care of whatever their currrent "Katrina" is.

"Too busy vacationing to memorialize our Honored dead."

He'll be speaking at the Lincoln cemetary in Chicago, honoring the dead. Nice one D.Q. (Funny, you know what DQ spells phonetically?)
Or is McCartney touring with the Grateful Dead, in which case...oh, nevermind.

    ReplyDelete
  11. I don't.... What does DQ spell phonetically?
An inquiring mind wants to know....

  12. Oh... I thought of Deeply Qualified.... Directly Qualified, or even Definitely Qualified.

(but I guess you know best.....) hahaha
    or how about Dream Quality......

    ReplyDelete
  13. I think Q w/o a U after it has a 'k' sound. In which case it would be the short form of Richard. As in Cheney. Or Nixon.

Phonetic spelling is a bit different from what it abbreviates! (May not know best, but know better....)

  14. What do you liberals on here think of the Sestak bribery scandal?

    ReplyDelete
  15. @4:33 They don't want to talk about it. Noticed someone mentioned it earlier.

  17. Sounds like Chicago style politics at its best!

    Btw: Whatever happened to Blogojevich?

Wasn't he going to take them "ALL" down if they took him down?

  18. Apparently Obama may have (its still a MAY have) offered this Sestak character a job if he would not run in the primary.
Publicans are trying to make it into a scandal.
I dont see what the big deal is, even if it did happen.
MOST political appointments are favors. Giving someone an appointment in exchange for them not running for something, just seems like a political deal. Its not unusual.
    Nothing illegal happened.
But publicans are going to make as much as they can out of it, just like the did with Clinton. And just like dems did with the Bush;s and Reagan. Politics as usual.

  19. But publicans are going to make as much as they can out of it, just like the did with Clinton.

    You mean something like:

I did not have sexual relations ....!

    ReplyDelete
  20. Ya know, I get sick of people pointing at Clinton and saying that the republican's were after him because he had sex or assumed he had sex. The Bottom line was he was asked officialy by congress if he did something in the oval office...not a private setting..and he LIED. Then he LIED to the public. He's since come clean. Nixon, bless the man, made the same mistake, he lied. It's the lying part that gets ya in trouble with the people...

  21. actually i thought d.q. stood for dairy queen.d.

  22. No one is trying to make it a scandal. It is a scandal. Point is: It a felony to offer "something of value" in order to try & convince someone not to run for office as a bribe. Read my lips: FELONY! It's a big deal. That's a problem. People think they can just obey the laws they like and break the ones they don't. Look: this is not complicated. Either Sestak is lying or he's telling the truth. If he's lying, he stands NO chance of being elected. If he's telling the truth, then there is a felon in the White House. Sestak opened this can of worms. Not Republicans. Question: why doesn't President Obama, Sestak or ANYONE just answer the question. "Uh...well the answers will be coming soon." "Uh..nothing inappropriate happened." This is screaming for a special prosecutor. This congress won't do it because their guy is on the hook. The people of the U.S. deserve an answer.

Now that would be the kind of change you can believe in!

  24. i really doubt it is illegal to offer someone an appointment in exchange for running or not running./
what if obummer had said ... i really wish you would not run so that i can appoint you to this board, where i really think you need to be ?
this is just political gamemanship, publicans are looking ugly here.

    Maybe?
But what if he said - if you run I'm going to have my buddies (maybe those SEIU guys) break both your knee caps?

  26. From CNN:

A White House source told CNN's John King, "Bill Clinton did talk to Sestak at the urging of Rahm, to discuss executive branch service based on the assumption he would stay in the House."

At a press conference Thursday that largely focused on the BP oil spill in the Gulf Coast, President Obama refuted allegations of impropriety surrounding reports that his administration offered Sestak a position if he would drop his Pennsylvania Senate bid.

"I can assure the public that nothing improper took place," Obama said toward the end of his hourlong news conference.

But Obama refused to give any more details, even as several Republicans and a handful of Democrats have demanded the White House be more forthcoming on the matter.

Looks like I was wrong - Bill wants to share Monica!

That oil spill is sure gonna be a career saver!

"I can assure the public that nothing improper took place,"

    You gotta love politicians!

You can be sure that they won't tell you anything till they have to or get caught!

    ReplyDelete
  28. How can anyone still support Obama after all the lies he has told? I just can't understand it. I didn't vote for the guy, but even if I had been a staunch supporter, all of his lies and shady dealings would have turnedme against him by now.

  30. You sure have opened a can of worms!
Look at the mess you have got us in Now Ollie!

Why was it so important to the past Generations to carry their own weight and considered it a disgrace by many to get on the Public dole? Why do alot of eldrerly simply choose to do without rather than ask for charity or government assistance?
Becuase they KNEW that when Society reached the point that Responsibility/Morals, Honesty, Lawfulness and Sincereity in compassion were compromised to the point they simply were by a persons choice not their conviction?
The Society they had then would not be the Society they PREFERRED!

Nancy Pelosi gave orders to the Democrats to go out and win the Public over to their agenda.
She told them to preach the things that they stood for and had already done!
Preach the virtues of the healthcare plan to the masses - regardless of the fact that 63% of those polled were against it and the cost were not acccurately calculated!

Well somewhere someone needs to decide if people telling the truth is still IMPORTANT!
