Cowley’s Golden Tigers to hold fall enrollment Aug. 24

The Cowley College Golden Tigers, a popular program for men and women age 50 and over, will hold its fall enrollment from 1-4 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 24; in the Earle N. Wright Community Room inside the Brown Center on the main campus in Arkansas City.
There is a $5 registration fee per person for the semester, and a $2 fee per class. Some classes have additional costs or supplies needed.

Persons attending fall enrollment are reminded to bring their mailing labels to use on the enrollment form and sign-up sheets. This saves writing their name multiple times and speeds up the enrollment process. Three educational trips are planned throughout the fall. The trips include, Wichita, Ponca City, OK, and Maize. The final meeting for the New England/Canada Cruise will be held on Sept. 9 at 2 p.m. or 7 p.m. The meeting will be held in Webb-Brown Academic Center Room 205. A pair of Senior Expos will be held in the coming months. On Sept. 23>, a Senior Expo will be held in Wichita from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. The Expo will feature more than 130 exhibitors and free admission to Botanica, Old Cowtown Museum, the >Wichita Art Museum, and Exploration Place. On Oct. 1, Larry Hatteberg will be the featured speaker at the Winfield Senior Expo. From 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Baden Square.

Educational Trips:
Wichita, Monday, Sept. 20, to Tanganyika Wildlife Park/Botanica. A short-guided tour of the park will be followed by a program on how animals defend themselves. Participants will also have time to explore the park on their own. After lunch, the group will head to Botanica to enjoy the beautiful fall gardens and butterfly house. Depart at 7:30 a.m. and return by 5:30 p.m. Cost is $25 plus lunch.
Ponca City, OK, Wednesday, Nov. 17, to Standing Bear Museum, Conoco Museum and Marland Mansion. Spend the day learning about the history of Ponca City. The Standing Bear Museum & Educational Center features tribal displays, traveling exhibits, artwork and other educational material. It is the gateway to Native American culture in this area. Participants will also learn more about the history and growth of the Conoco Oil Company and have a catered lunch at the Marland Mansion. Jackie Hunsucker will provide the group with a tour of the Marland Mansion. The bus will depart at 8 a.m. and return by 5:30 p.m. Cost is $40 (includes lunch).
Maize, Thursday, Dec. 2, to Prairie Pines Christmas Tree Farm. Enjoy a wonderful catered dinner provided by Two Brothers BBQ and attend “The Mystery at Moose Lodge” Christmas Musical Comedy Revue featuring Steve Rue. There will be time before dinner to visit the Old Barn Christmas Shop and enjoy a cup of cider. Depart at 4 p.m. and return around 11 p.m. Cost is $45 (includes dinner and dessert).
