  2. depends on your standards. probably work or school (college) or the library.

Join some social events. The arts council has a bunch of them.

    Try yahoo personals.

  3. Well not knowing your age?
Look into singles groups! Yeah some maybe church related! AND some maybe divorced!
One of the interesting trends is Contra Dancing!
Which is similar to Square dancing but yet different! It can include all ages!
Country Western Dancing (two step line dancing) used to be common but there aren't any events other than at the bars and their usually out of town!
I've even heard people talk about traveling out of town to attend Contra Dancing events!
But, its kind of tough in small towns who don't really have any organized events that allow people to meet!

This is exactly the reason why we need tougher immigration laws like the one Arizona just passed.

  5. I was early for an appointment and was waiting in my car. When out of no where appeared a bird with a worm in its beak!
The bird disappeared through a hole and then reappeared an was off again like on a mission!
Now as the minutes flew by so did the trips in and out of that hole by those birds!
It then occurred to me that it takes alot of work to make the World the way it is Today!
Spring is a busy time and while we get all involved in things that seem to big to handle?
All God's creatures have their tasks!
So the next time you see a bird with an uneaten worm?
He/She's probably too busy to worry about you!

    Matt 6: 26-27

Look at the birds of the air; they do not sow or reap or store away in barns, and yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not much more valuable than they? Who of you by worrying can add a single hour to his life?

32 For the Pagans run after these things, and your heavenly Father knows that you need them.
33 But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well.
34 Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own.

  8. Anchor babies are a huge problem. Who do you think would know that better, a San Diego representative who's state has gone bankrupt because of the illegal alien problem, or some soft hearted liberal in Ark City America?

That kind of goes hand in hand with policies that are meant to "Destroy" the family unit strucuture!
Regardless of what country they live in or their style of Government!
Immigrants who choose to have their children on foreign soil to claim citizenship! Or legal citizens who abandon their resposibility as parents in their own country!
They both promote the increase of poverty and its underlying effects on Society!

An Arkansas City man was found dead in his car Monday in the Sleeth housing addition.

David Schuetz, 40, was pronounced dead Monday of unknown causes, according to Police Chief Sean Wallace today.

"There is no indication (Schuetz's) death was a homicide, however," Wallace said.

"We won't know anything until the results of the autopsy are released in about two months."

  13. What are your feeling about the city of Arkansas City?
1)Do you feel that the administration of the city (not workers) the administration understands and respects what is happening to homes and families in our area?
    2) Do you feel that the staff of city workers is respectful, and does the duties for which we the taxpayers are paying?
3)Do you feel that we are overspending, or underspending in the areas of emergency services?
    4) Do you feel uneasy about our community or are you feeling that things are getting better?
    5) What one area in our community do you want to see advancements in?

  14. 1-If they live here
    2-Are these two separate questions?
3-I've never had a problem with it.
4-Is there no middle ground? This sounds like a Seaton poll.
    5-Ending sentences with prepositions.

Too bad there isn't any participation in the discussion!

  17. 5) What one area in our community do you want to see advancements in?

    So I'll go first!
One of the biggest mistakes I think is made during a recessionary period?
Is the mentality that new expansion is the only way out of a contraction!
When maybe in reality it should be a time of reflection and rebuilding of the things you already have in place!
They are the very things that will be passed on and either, due to future costs to those things and generations from deterioration and neglect, they will get repaired or be abandoned all together!

    Or

Those generations will choose to move/live somewhere else!

  19. 1)I think that sometime the adminstration forgets that not everyone makes $90K plus benefits
2)I think that the employees are good people trying to do a good job.
3)I think that sometimes the city department managers (NOT ALL) don't think tax money is real. I have budgeted for a new car for 3 years, but I keep fixing the one I have, so every year I don't get the car. They say it's in the budget so I have to have it.
4)I say better! I think the city commission is paying closer attention, I think that maybe they have a better handle on getting the drugs out of here, I am sad everytime I see a young person get an MIP/MIC, someone said there is not enough for teens to do, but they say that in Wichita, and Chicago, as well.
5)(A)We need a great dayschool/daycare center. (B)We need to have a citizens committee one that studies issues, and developes a plan for solving things one step at a time. (C)We need to have a once a month summer picnic, citywide. Come and bring food for your family and share the evening, maybe have free swimming, for that time, as well as park volleyball, and other games.
Well that's like three things just food for thought

  20. What are your feeling about the city of Arkansas City?
1)Do you feel that the administration of the city (not workers) the administration understands and respects what is happening to homes and families in our area?
    YES FOR THE MOST PART
    2) Do you feel that the staff of city workers is respectful, and does the duties for which we the taxpayers are paying?
    ABSOLUTLY
3)Do you feel that we are overspending, or underspending in the areas of emergency services?
I THINK THAT SOMETIMES THE LINES BETWEEN WANT AND HAVE TO GET BLURRED
    4) Do you feel uneasy about our community or are you feeling that things are getting better?
    THEY ARE GETTING BETTER!
    5) What one area in our community do you want to see advancements in?
BETTER ROADS, GET A PLAN, IMPLEMENT TO!

This is a great idea. It would only take one or two people to get the ball rolling. Im sure you could get some help from the city - equipment whatever.
Probably get food donated pretty easily, but then, everyone bringing stuff would work too.
Be easy to get some bands to play too.
Parris Park ... Wilson Park ...
If someone will get it started, Ill help you.

  26. Many towns do a weekly concert series during the summer. People bring lawn chairs, or blankets, some picnic foods, or snacks, and enjoy the evening. Kids run around, dance, throw the frisbee...

We have such a great facility at Wilson park, it is a shame it is not better utilized.

Surely, there is enough local talent to fill up 10 weeks or so of entertainment...

There really is no work involved, other than lining up the music.
