AC Changes: Graves may be sold

Seems to be a lot of changes happening in the city. Several business have closed lately in downtown.
I had heard that Graves was closing, but looks like the real deal is they are selling to another company out of Oklahoma.
Here is a story in Newscow

I also saw a sign on Home National, that it is now RCB bank.

Times change. With the economy, it is harder, but there may be some recovery coming. What will the  future look like in Arkansas City? Now is the time for leadership and vision. We will get what we want ultimately.

  3. Maybe, maybe you can report the truth about RCB (HNB), other than the slush pieces that Seaton has been writing. "Would retain a vast majority of HNB emnployees in Ark City annd Winfield." Well, maybe. Winfield, yes; AC, uh, no. Branch Capture facility? Right now, AC HNB has 8-9 people running Item Processing. Takes one person to run branch capture. Call Center? 6-8 people to lose their jobs. So far, I count at leat 14 people gone. What about Central loans? RCB has a center in Wichita; HNB had 10-12 people here. Central Deposit? RCBs is in Claremore; HNB had 6-8 people. I see at least half the people at the AC main bank location losing their jobs within the next month or so, probably 20-25 people. That, or many of them being asked to relocate. Bank take overs are not a pretty site, and really hrts the bank being taken over. The abnk taking over, in this case RCB, will come out pretty well, especially since they didn't have to take over any of HNB bad stuff (AZ loans). THey were smart, they took over the AZ deposits, with all the Snowbirds money, and profitable midwestern accounts.

  4. @9:47 idk...you sound like you know what you're talking about. (not trying to be funny here) I have one question: how do they take over a bank without taking the toxic loans of HNB. BTW, I was told last week by an ex-employee of HNB that all who work there are in fear for their jobs. What a shame. Just shows that leadership is always responsible and should make decisions that will benefit all, even the "little" employees. As I see it, this was not necessarily a closure because of economic downturn, but because the bank leadership made stupid moves.

  11. What most don't understand is ALL HNB employees lost there jobs on the day the Feds failed the bank. They become temps for the feds and RCB has no legal liability to keep the HNB employees.
    We shall see what happens.
