Oklahoma State Coach Mike Gundy announced today that receiver Justin Blackmon will be suspended for one game, and will not play against Kansas State this weekend. Blackmon was arrested and charged with DUI in Texas late Monday night.
Blackmon appeared with the coach at a press conference Tuesday and apologized for the incident.
Say what you will about college athletics, but it is not every day that a suspended player appears at a press conference and confronts the issue. I think that says more for his character than one bad decision (dui) does. In Texas you can be charged with dui if you have had any at all if you are under 21 years old.
You can read the transcript from the press conference on the football blog, which is here
