Political merry go round

Good Monday Morning.
I hope to get back to regular posting now. Just had a few projects that I had to deal with.
I have kind of backed off the politics. On one hand, that is what generates comments and page views, but on the other - its just the same stuff over and over.
I would like to see some new ideas. About all the Liberals or Conservatives can say is that the other side is worse than they are. Ive said it before, I think the Liberal and Conservative battle is a huge part of the problem. Maybe their greatest attribute is that they keep the other side from getting too much power.
Both sides have strengths and weaknesses.
But both sides are also a spin on reality - not reality itself.
The thing is, as far as I can tell, neither side is at all interested in solving actual problems.  And neither side has any actual ideas.

I would suggest trying to look at issues objectively, using your own common sense and experiences and knowledge. I wish we had more choices than two at election time. Having only two choices is no choice at all.
In 2003 we gave the publicans the presidency, the house and the senate ...
In 2008 we gave that to the dems.
Now in 2010 it looks like the pubs will gain control of the house at least, if not the senate also.
Is that all politics is about?

I cant see that either of those two elections has made any difference. The economy went bad. It was good in the late 90s and early 00's .. Of course both sides took credit when it was good and blamed the other when it went bad. The economy goes in cycles. If you look back as far as the 1880s.. there have been times of depression and economic prosperity.

So. what is my point? The point is that there is no political solution. We need new ideas, new parties, new strategies. The tea party at least is a step in that direction, even though it is just another flavor of republican. BUT, at least it is a step. So even though im not a fan of the tea party, at least I like the idea of another party.
If it has some success there will be others.
There are usually other parties on the ballot every election. People say its a wasted vote - of course thats just a ploy used by both sides to get you to pick one or the other - but it is a start. If more people would vote for another party, we might eventually see some progress.

From a Bob Dylan song
"you must pick one or the other though neither of them will be what they claim"

  1. jj maybe you can start a new party. Call it green leaf, have Al Bore as your lead canidate. He invented the internet and everyone knows him. Have you ever in your life seen the approval rate of Congress as low as this. They don't have or will listen to the people, they are to alouf for that. We need people who will listen to the people and vote on their concerns, not their own feelings.
Us on a pension and ss haven't had a raise in two years but the elist in Washington damn sure have. I want this country to come back to what it once was, but that probably isn't pollicaly, so I'll just pray to GOD that he watches over our great nation.

  5. Saveing what is left is the idea,,, I remember the great Ross Perot warning us about this, and I also remember Osama Bin Laden telling us that America would destroy itself by econiomic means.
A socialist government and giveing benifits to those who do not work for them is not a way to resolve the issue,, OBAMA care is not an american Ideal, it is a communist conception

That is probably a fair statement!

The problem is that what worked in previous times for either party doesn't seem to work today!

That's probably because we are not at a normal period in time! The amount of actual money controlled by either party after spending for entitlments gets smaller and smaller!

Its not like we didn't know it was coming and its not that people didn't make plans. Its that through Government intervention those plans got changed! Even for many who had no idea they were exposed to that very RISK!

Now the problem is who has the solution!

We can move toward the same solutions that Europe used the Value Added Tax, Social Medicine, etc. (Btw: That hasn't turned out too well for countries who can't live within their means and are reaching the point where other countries are reluctant to lend them money for fear it won't/can't be paid back!)

    or

We can seek to reinvent the "American Dream" which was based on indvidual reponsibility and efforts!

That doesn't mean there shouldn't be help for those in times of need - it just means that Government shouldn't be used as the only answer or the first/preferred SOLUTION!

No matter what they try or how hard - they can't replace common VALUES with GOVERNMENT!

  10. your job was traded to mexico to help cure its problems

Did it ever occur to you that the job was sent to Mexico to avoid all the regulations and increased expenses that occur with do business in the U.S.? (Obamacare will send more!)

    AND

You can't make those countries abide by those same regulations and requirements?

Do I like it that those companies are moving their operations to low cost areas? NO!

But, we have educated a lot of foreigners sent them home and now we can't even compete!

(I saw a program on Public TV a while back that the number of people enrolled in the Wichita State Aircraft Engieering Programs were mostly of foreign origin! As I recall something like 2/3 of the class!)

    Do you see a TREND?

  11. Obama has a 37% approval rating and congress has an 11% approval rating.

    Don't forget to vote Tuesday.

  12. The idea that voting in the other party is a solution is the real con

    Maybe?

But lets look back over the last several decades and see what happened to America!

If you were around industry/manufacturing or construction say 20-30 years ago! It was uncommon to see foreign made machinery!

But today Nissan, Toyota, Daewoo, Komatsu etc. are in construction and all the factories even at the local GE plant! (As rented or leased Forklifts)

Now follow that up with all the mowers and etc. that used to have Briggs and Straton engines! The choices today are Honda, Kawasaki etc. Then Briggs, Kohler and Tecumseh. But the trend is to the foreign motors because they are seen as more powerful and dependable!

Then there is the Automobile Industry! (Need I say more?)

There is area after area where we lost out to our foreign competitors - then eventually lost market share and the market!

Each one has a specific story all its own - but most have the same basic chemistry that reduced and/or eventually eliminated their competitiveness!

    AND

In the end they didn't attract the Votes (Dollars) of enough consumers privately and/or commercially!

So who is really to blame?
