I did not mention anything about the shooting at Ft. Hood yesterday. I was just in shock I guess, and thought it would be widely discussed everywhere anyway.
The guy was apparently a muslim, but seemed to also have greater problems as well.
Really doubt that this was an act of terrorism put on by the taliban though.
Then today there was another shooting. This one at an office building in Florida. A disgruntled former employee.
These things do tend go to in streaks, but it is kinda odd that it happened two days in a row.
We do live in trou is over.bled times. There may be more senseless acts of violence before it is all said and done.
I think it is a symptom of a greater spiritual problem that persists throughout the nation and world.
so ... what do you all think.
First I want to offer my thoughts and prayers to those who lost loved ones in the incident. I have watched my soldier go to war more than once and go to that very processing center, going and returning. I thanked God yesterday that it was not my soldiers time to be there, my heart aches for the mothers, fathers, brothers, sisters, husbands and wives that lost their loved ones. Some were just returning from the battle field and deep in their hearts thought they had cheated death again on yet another deployment. And some to be taken before they even got to the war zone. God bless the soldiers...

ReplyDeletedo you think it is more violent than say , Biblical times ?
Its just easier to hear about it
Prayers for all our soldiers and families at Fort Hood and around the world.

No probably not but we should evolve to the better not keep going down hill. Killing your children because they are too westernized is wrong. But allowing them to do anything and everything they want produces this type of behavior as well. Surely there is something in the middle that could be achieved.
One example is some people from our community think it is funny and outragous that the kid ran naked through the crowd at Curry field and are idolizing him with tee shirts. Not to mention making money on the side. Poor taste, poor judgement.I used to trust his site for news, now it irks me.

ReplyDeleteI think the same thing. Just not the same way you do. I see religion as the cause.

ReplyDeleteI am open minded enough to see what you are saying but personally my belief in a higher power has gotten me through some really rough times. I am not really all that religous but I am spiritual. Little/big gangs of churches aren't the way either in my opinion especially the ones that push at you. Fear of hell isn't my way of getting people to be spiritual. Do I sound like a child of the 60's?
The greater problem, in my opinion, is fear and insecurity. People feel trapped, and do not see any way out. Some of it is surely spiritual. People feel hopeless, disillusioned, are asking, "Is this all there is?" Some of it is certainly financial. We have been sold a bill of goods, and... no matter how hard we work, nonew of us will really break out of mediocraty. That is reserved for the fat cat politicians, and CEO's....
ReplyDeleteWe as a people have gotten accustomed to "having more" than we actually need. In the case of the Orlando shooting the guy lost his job and blamed the company for his misfortune. His comment to the press was "they left me to rot".We have all lost jobs that were detrimental to our way of lives, but we didn't kill.
ReplyDeleteIn the case of the Hood shooter, we will yet see what his motives were. I read where he said something about his higher power when he was shooting his fellow soldiers. That was probably not motivated by money.
I guess the best thing it to live within your means. And pray luck will be with you.
And yeah, I agree with you about the CEO's and the polititians.
Yep, guns are great; no doubt about it.
ReplyDeleteGuns don't kill people, people kill people.
ReplyDeleteto the idiot who blames this on the gun and not the shooter,
ReplyDeleteHow exactly was the shooter stopped again? Oh yeah, by a good intentioned person WITH A GUN.
A gun is a tool. It can be used for good or bad, depending on the person using it. Same goes for a baseball bat, or a golf club. Take away guns and stabbings will increase. Take away knives and clubbings will increase. But crazy people will still be crazy!
Golf club? Bat? Right - those would have caused about the same damage as the weapons used. I never said the shooter wasn't to blame. Too bad he didn't have a golf club. But you know what? This psycho had firearms. Dangerous, yet very common combination.
ReplyDeleteAnd a good person with a firearm stopped him. Had she not, many more would have died. His gun took lives while her gun saved lives. You would have us be defenseless?
ReplyDelete"I think it is a symptom of a greater spiritual problem that persists throughout the nation and world."
ReplyDeleteI totally agree with that statement. Jesus said we will reap what we sow. In the Old Testament, God spoke to Solomon in a dream and told him,
2Ch 7:14 if My people who are called by My name will humble themselves, and pray and seek My face, and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin and heal their land.
The answer to our many problems lies in what we, personally, and as a nation, do with that. Will we continue down the path we're on or will we humble ourselves and pray, seek God's face, and turn from our wicked ways? The ball is in our court, people.
