A good post

Here is a post someone put up on another thread yesterday. I liked it, so thought I would make it a post of its own.

This morning I was awoken by my alarm clock powered by electricity generated by the public power monopoly regulated by the US Department of Energy. I then took a shower in the clean water provided by the municipal water utility. After that, I turned on the TV to one of the FCC regulated channels to see what the National Weather Service of the National Oceanographic and Atmospheric Administration determined the weather was going to be like using satellites designed, built, and launched by the National Aeronautics and Space Administration. I watched this while eating breakfast of US Department of Agriculture inspected food and taking the drugs which have been determined as safe by the Food and Drug Administration.

At the appropriate time as regulated by the US Congress and kept accurate by the National Institute of Standards and Technology and the US Naval Observatory. I get into my National Highway Traffic Safety Administration approved automobile and set out to work on the roads built by the local, state, and federal departments of transportation, possibly stopping to purchase additional fuel of a quality level determined by the Environmental Protection Agency, using legal tender issued by the Federal Reserve bank. On the way out the door I deposit any mail I have to send via the US Postal Service and drop the kids off at the public school.

After work, I drive my NHTSA car back home on the DOT roads, to a house which has not burned down in my absence because of the state and local building codes and fire marshal's inspection, and which has not been plundered of all it's valuables thanks to the local police department.

I then log on to the internet which was developed by the Defense Advanced Research Projects Administration to post on freerepublic.com and Fox News forums about how SOCIALISM in medicine is BAD because the government can't do anything right.

  1. Well who's going to be the "lighthouse" for the world when the light goes out in America?

Will it be Canada with their Socailistic society?

Will it be Europe with their Unoins that are SO
STRONG they can bring their countries to a stand sill!

Will it be China or Russia?

Will it be the Middle East?

    Maybe Japan?

Tell me when America turns it back on GOD!

  2. Do you have a link to that blog ?

Don't forget the quasi governmental body that is going bankrupt...the post office.

  3. post office is dying due to the internet and cell phones. You all would never admit that poster is right in your last dying breath. Government is a fact a life no matter what you believe.

  5. Government is heavily involved in our lives, there is no doubt about it, but there is a huge difference between government regulating things and taking over and running things completely. Government oversight is a good thing most of the time, but when has a government run program or business ever ran well without huge waste and corruption?

  6. Yawn! What a bunch of mumbo jumbo. Look, the regulation of things by gov't is a great idea. Otherwise, who would say how much a gallon or pound equals? Vastly, VASTLY different between regulation and ownership. Let's see, Social Security, there's a SUPER example of Gov't run success. Hmmm, I know, Medicare. Another example of Gov't run success. I won't go on. No one wants to hear it.

"The blog is for the community, so I will try to be responsive to reader interests. Let me know what you want." jj, I have an idea. Check all the posts on your blog to date concerning health care & see how many yeas & nays registered. I think you may see the community's mind on the issue. Careful, this blog is rapidly becoming not a tool for the community, but a mouthpiece of liberalism.

  9. @8:56 ty. Pres. Reagan speaks to us from beyond the grave. I sincerely hope all who love freedom would take the 10 min. to listen to Mr. Reagan from 1961 telling us what our future holds. WOW! jj, maybe you would post this from our past President.

That is what they said years ago when they started collecting income and personal property tax. From that our country improved. Some people just can't accept change.

  14. Just in case you don't think America is broken!

    The statistical breakdown of the U.S. correction system aggregation is as follows;

1 in every 45 Americans is on parole or probation

1 in every 100 Americans is in jail or prison

1 in every 11 African American adults is in jail or prison

1 in every 27 Hispanic American adults is in jail or prison

1 in every 45 White American adults is in jail or prison

  15. Fighting poverty
There have been many governmental and nongovernmental efforts to reduce poverty and its effects. These range in scope from neighborhood efforts to campaigns with a national focus. They target specific groups affected by poverty such as children, people who are autistic, immigrants, or people who are homeless. Efforts to alleviate poverty use a disparate set of methods, such as advocacy, education, social work, legislation, direct service or charity, and community organizing.

Recent debates have centered on the need for policies that focus on both "income poverty" and "asset poverty." Advocates for the approach argue that traditional governmental poverty policies focus solely on supplementing the income of the poor, through programs such as Aid to Families with Dependent Children (AFDC) and Food Stamps. These programs do little, if anything, to help the poor build assets and begin to lift themselves out of poverty. Some have proposed creating a government matched savings plan (similar to the private 401K) system to provide a savings incentive to poor and lower-income individuals and families.

So, do you think Socialism will reduce the amount of Poverty?

  16. Having a baby out of wedlock: In a January 15, 2003 article titled "How Not to Be Poor," Blake Bailey wrote, "Don't Have Children Out of Wedlock... Children born to parents who do not marry spend, on average, 56.7 percent of their lives in poverty as opposed to just 6.3 percent for children in married families." [1] In a February 7, 2008 column, economist Thomas Sowell wrote, "The poverty rate among black married couples has been in single digits since 1994." [2]

Btw: The new healthcare bill will fix that through Abortion!

  18. I'll stop!
But if you look at the original post comparing Americas progress!
We have made great strides through our research and developement, education, and technology!
But to compare those things with the degredation that has occurred in our Society!
(Alot of that as the result of Government Programs and Incentives which have gone wrong!)
    Is simply wrong!

If ever we needed real leadership with REAL EXAMPLES/ANSWERS and Guidance?

    It's NOW!

  19. I agree with that.
Conservatives still dont understand that THEY ARE the government. government is not some entity out there, we are all the government.
And even getting government out of our lives is using government to affect our lives.
If people who hate government, really hated it, they would not be involved at all in it...

  20. OK, so tell me about the TIF. What the heck is it? Why do the people want it so bad, especially the city commissioners? And what is really interesting, now we don't hear a peep out of any of them so much against it before. Why is that? What is different this time?
I know there is a HUD project or something for housing that ACI is wanting to build, and that should bring in people. And there are big box stores, probably another Lowe's coming, and even a quick passing comment about a new place to eat (LOL...probably Montana Mike's). But, why have we not heard the outcry as we did before?
Something is fishy here. Could Mr. Eaton have changed his mind since he sits on the board of ACI now?

That is total horse sh!t and you know it. When has the government acted in the best interest of anyone but themselves and their political careers. You should see by the way they are ramming healthcare down our throat that they do NOT listen to the people. They do what they want, especially right now with their majority (or their tricks to bypass majority), and what they think will give them more power. Obama is the worst offender I have ever seen, but there has not been a true government for the people by the people in a very long time. To say otherwise is disingenuous and/or totally naive.
