Here is an AP article about spin involved in the health care bill.
Now before you go hollering that im a socialist etc., realize, it points out falsehoods on both sides. HERE is the link
There is plenty of spin going on by both parties. but I do think the hysteria of the republicans is just a bit over the top on this.
"but I do think the hysteria of the republicans is just a bit over the top on this."
ReplyDeleteOf course you do, you're a Liberal Democrat.
I love fact checking articles. The only problem with this one is that it goes strictly by the bill that was passed. Obama has sais, and you admitted yourself, this is only the beginning.
From the article:
On paying for abortions: "Timothy Jost, a law professor at Washington and Lee University, said people who don't want to pay for abortion could simply pick a plan that doesn't offer it."
What if you get your plan through an employer, and you don't get to choose? You could end up helping to fund abortions even if you are against it.
And do you really think the government is going to cut medicaire to keep this under a trillion dollars? Then what happens to all of our seniors on medicaire? I don't believe they will make those cuts and anger so many voters. Either way they lose that fight. That was just a trick to make the CBO report look better.
You don't have to take your employer's insurance.
ReplyDeleteYou could end up helping to fund abortions even if you are against it.
ReplyDeleteThose Pillars of Our Society are being chipped away at their "BASE".
When they fall?
It will be on everyone in the Country!
Regardless of what you Believe!
"You don't have to take your employer's insurance."
ReplyDeleteThat's true, but it is usually cheaper because your employer pays part of it. So you would have to search for a private plan and pay more because you don't want to support abortion.
I just heard on the Anti-CNN network last night where the IRS will be hiring 16,000 new workers to monitor the new healthcare bill and make sure people comply!
ReplyDeleteIts going to end with a Big Government take over in all the areas of our Society!
The only chance to stop it is in 2012 and 2014!
The only chance to stop it is in 2012 and 2014!
ReplyDeleteNo the chance to stop it is NOVEMBER 2010. Vote the worthless bastards out of office....
New tax (10%) on indoor tanning salons goes into effect this July as a part of the health care bill. And since this blog started with the title of spin: This particular part of the bill appears to be a thinly veiled tax on the white race.
ReplyDeleteGuido tax
ReplyDeletehttp://www.komonews.com/news/local/88971742.html
ReplyDeleteDoc that is just weird. Youre trying to race bait on this??
ReplyDeleteThe abortion thing is ridiculous. If you are employed and get insurance there, this bill would not effect you in the least.
Again, a red herring.
It may not be all the demmies claim it to be, but im just saying its not as bad as you guys are saying either.
And again, youre so quick to label someone just because they dare to question your arguments.
Your as bad or worse JJ assuming we don't care about those less fortunate because we don't like this health care bill.
ReplyDeleteYou have your rose colored glasses on.
"The abortion thing is ridiculous. If you are employed and get insurance there, this bill would not effect you in the least.
ReplyDeleteAgain, a red herring."
You just don't get it. It's like talking to a little kid.
How many minorities do you see at the tanning salon? Lighten up Junior.
10% tax on people tanning in salons. Did you know that tanning raises your risk of skin cancer? maybe that could be why the 10% tax?
ReplyDeleteCC,
ReplyDeleteOk, I will bite.
Unsafe sex, genetics, lack of physical activity, working in the sun, alcohol, tobacco and of course growing older are all linked cancer. I have already mentioned the only difference I can see between these items and tanning salons.
I say tax all the old farts. They have had a lifetime to accumulate wealth and are at the greatest risk of cancer. Youth revolution! hahaha
10% tax on people tanning in salons. Did you know that tanning raises your risk of skin cancer?
ReplyDeleteSo does the real Sun!
Are we going to have Beach or Pool Police?
Are we going to have Beach or Pool Police?
ReplyDeleteWe will have to pass a Sun Blocker Law!
(oh, thats a good one i need to e-mail that to nancy)
Does that mean my tan lines will cost more?
ReplyDeleteSG - First it was "you don't get to choose," when called on that point, you acquiesced, adding it is "usually cheaper" and one would "have to" pay more. "Usually" and "have to" are non sequitur. Grown-up.
ReplyDelete7:18,
ReplyDeleteYoua don'ta makea no sense. If you can't read, that's not my fault. Maybe you came along before "no child left behind", and got left behind.
I don't see any arguments coming from the left, and they totally ignore the facts that I and many others have linked to . All I see is name calling from the left because they know they are wrong. They know this bill was passed against the will of the people according to the CNN poll, and they know this thing was pushed through under cover of darkness, using every trick in the book, and some they just made up.
Higher risk of cancer from tanning salons then the actual sun is all i'm saying. Only stating a fact, I will not be dragged into any ridiculous discussion.
ReplyDeleteName calling? How bout those acts of threats and intimidation from the right?
ReplyDeleteI was talking about the people on here you du...
ReplyDeleteoh, wait.
Only stating a fact, I will not be dragged into any ridiculous discussion.
ReplyDeleteAh Cmon, Put em up, Put em up!
Thats all I'm saying!
LOL! Get the boxing gloves...
ReplyDeleteMy March 25, 2010 9:05 AM comment was toward sg
CC,
ReplyDeleteLook, as I said, if you don't want to pay for abortions, and the plan through your work does pay for abortions, then you would be forced to seek a higher priced plan elsewhere. It would cause us to pay more because we have high morals and don't want to fund the murder of innocent babies, no matter how indirect that funding might be. I don't see what is so confusing about that that you can't get it.
Boxing gloves? You liberals and your love of violence. You scare me!
Now LIBS love violence?!?!
ReplyDeleteYou would not be forced to find a higher priced plan, just a different plan.
You would not be forced to find a higher priced plan, just a different plan.
ReplyDeleteBut, you would still be indirectly forced to support the "Killing" of innocent lives!
Through a Government by and for the people!
You don't think you have influence or control of your family TODAY?
Wait till the Government can make all those decisons for YOU!
It certainly is going to end up all about MONEY when Government takes CONTROL and not about the individuals decisions!
AND
It will be the end of the American Dream!
So, PUT THEM UP!
What kills me is Obama and Pelosi getting behind their pulpit and yelling about how they are really sticking it to the insurance companies, when in actuality, they are handing the insurance companies money by the truckload by mandating that everyone get insurance. They don't want to lose out on that insurance lobby money. Talk about peeing down your back and telling you it's raining. And some of you buy everything they say with no doubts or research. Just blind sheep following the half blind shepherd. I am starting to think this country deserves whatever it gets because so many of it's citizens have turned their back on what is right. Now it's all about me me me and what the government can give me that I didn't have yesterday.
ReplyDeleteI read an article no long ago about China!
ReplyDeleteThey practice abortion and have a ONE CHILD RULE! (are we going to get that here?)
They have placed more value on Males than on Females!
Now there are not enough Females for the available Males!
They are looking into having to import Females from other Asian countires!
Plus, their Society is aging at twice the rate!
BIG GOVERNMENTS MAKE BIG MISTAKES!
SG, now liberals are violent and another post said we was pot smoking pacifist liberals..can't make up your mind huh?!
ReplyDeleteJJ none of these aurguments on healthcare is for what is the good of the country, it is a tug a war between two parties and who can win in the end. Some people are so worried a few of the lazy is gonna get something that they are willing to punish everyone in their path. I don't agree with everything in the bill, but no matter what is done not everyone will be happy. Somewhere i saw someone is against kids staying on the parents insurance til they are 26, that could be good if they are in college and/or starting out in the job market in the study of their choice. If they are not getting an education they should not be able to stay on the parents plan after 21
I would think boxing gloves be better then throwing rocks through windows
ReplyDelete"SG, now liberals are violent and another post said we was pot smoking pacifist liberals..can't make up your mind huh?!"
ReplyDeleteSarcasm: a sharply ironical taunt; sneering or cutting remark.
Hope that helps you.
SG - Sarcasm's tough to pull off online. Einstein.
ReplyDeleteOUCH, stop with the name calling.. you really hurt me that time. (sob)
ReplyDelete"Sarcasm is wasted on the stupid." - Confusedus
Also, do you even realize that by calling me "Einstein" you are engaging in sarcasm.... wait for it.... online?
ReplyDeleteI didn't figure you did.
Interesting how conservatives get violent and hateful when they don't get their way, like toddlers throwing a tantrum.
ReplyDeleteI don't see anyone getting violent or hateful, but I just saw a leftist commie get owned. haha You don't think calling people einstein sarcastiocally or toddlers throwing a tantrum is hateful? Look in the mirror commie.
ReplyDeleteThis morning I was awoken by my alarm clock powered by electricity generated by the public power monopoly regulated by the US Department of Energy. I then took a shower in the clean water provided by the municipal water utility. After that, I turned on the TV to one of the FCC regulated channels to see what the National Weather Service of the National Oceanographic and Atmospheric Administration determined the weather was going to be like using satellites designed, built, and launched by the National Aeronautics and Space Administration. I watched this while eating breakfast of US Department of Agriculture inspected food and taking the drugs which have been determined as safe by the Food and Drug Administration.
ReplyDeleteAt the appropriate time as regulated by the US Congress and kept accurate by the National Institute of Standards and Technology and the US Naval Observatory. I get into my National Highway Traffic Safety Administration approved automobile and set out to work on the roads built by the local, state, and federal departments of transportation, possibly stopping to purchase additional fuel of a quality level determined by the Environmental Protection Agency, using legal tender issued by the Federal Reserve bank. On the way out the door I deposit any mail I have to send via the US Postal Service and drop the kids off at the public school.
I am able to work because I have been educated at a public school, paid for by tax dollars, and regulated by the Department of Education. My schooling was paid for with loans and grants obtained through the federal government student loan program.
After work, I drive my NHTSA car back home on the DOT roads, to a house which has not burned down in my absence because of the state and local building codes and fire marshal's inspection, and which has not been plundered of all it's valuables thanks to the local police department.
I then log on to the internet which was developed by the Defense Advanced Research Projects Administration and post on freerepublic.com and Fox News forums about how SOCIALISM in medicine is BAD because the government can't do anything right.

THAT is a great post.
ReplyDeleteim going to post it by itself and start a new thread.
And then I pushed the post comment button too many times because I'm not very bright.
ReplyDeleteFar be it for me to point out that the government REGULATING something and OWNING AND RUNNING something are two entirely different things. But don't let that spoil your socialist ranting.
ReplyDelete@4:36 you forgot one thing, Al Gore invented the internet. Yeah, jj. you probably wrote it. If not, at least no one is surprised you think it's GREAT! @5:20 may, just may, have a point. If you want to see the outer end of gov't OWNING & RUNNING everything, may I refer you to our neighbors to the south. Ah yes, the great CUBA!! A model of gov't run everything. I think I'll pass.
ReplyDelete@ March 26, 2010 4:36 PM
ReplyDeleteThats about the most rediculous comparison I think I've ever heard!
Comparing humanity itself to its achievements!
Your thought process leaves out the fact that humans aren't machines!
If they were we could just unplug them or shut them down when they went hay wire! Or
Repalce them with a new updated model!
Better yet just program them to think and act ALL THE SAME WAY ALL THE TIME!
Or
We can use Government to make all the decisions for them which is about a close as you'll come to making them robots!
Btw: When my clock wears out its too expensive to fix things now days. Its better to just throw it away and replace it!
I wonder if that's what will happen with Government Controlled Healthcare?
Once you served your pupose and/or get too expensive to fix?
Served!
ReplyDeleteok back to reality
Im really tired of this health care debate... Ive put countless hours of thought and reading into it. Im done, the libs won and it wont get reversed. Medicare didnt, soc sec didnt. Just something ill have to learn to deal with, and complain about to the family.
If texas ever seceds ill just move there.
secedes* sry I missed the e
ReplyDelete@9:38 I feel your pain. The reality is...you may be right. Someday, we may have to try & explain to our children/grands, etc. when they ask: "tell us about the good old days" tell us about when there was food aplenty, electricity for everybody, tell us mama, tell us papa... But, rest assured, I will not go quietly into the night, giving up. I will vote, I will pray, I will become active in the political process. I will...

I can't let the efforts of those who have gone before me that suffered and sacrificed to give me my FREEDOM! Be in VAIN!
I really want a BLT... Its been years since ive had a blt... Anybody else craving one now?

Maybe you need to look in the mirror and listen to the news???
9:38 & 9:53 & 10:23,
ReplyDeleteI am with you completely. Let's work hard between now and November to talk everyone we know into going to the polls and voting these bums out of office. We can gripe on here till our faces turn blue and it will do no good in the long run (unless we sway a person to get out and vote). But, we can make a difference at the polls. (YES WE CAN!)
I have a feeling we are going to see a mid-term election like no other in history.
Don't give up. We can show Barry and Nancy and Harry what happens when you ignore the will of the people. And maybe the Republicans will pay attention as well. They ALL need to realize that if they don't listen to the people they represent, they are out the door. Obama is the worst offender I have seen in my lifetime, and if I were a betting man, I'd say he's gone in 2012.
Keep fighting. But fight where it does the most good... At the polls.
"Interesting how conservatives get violent and hateful when they don't get their way, like toddlers throwing a tantrum."
ReplyDeleteMaybe you missed the liberals who threatened Ann Coultre up in Canada? And the ones protesting FOR the bill that start fights? I know MSNBC doesn't show them very often unless they absolutely have to, so I can see how you could miss them.
Point being: There is fringe on both sides. There are just as many far left wackos as there are far right ones (if not more.. just look at California).
Keep fighting. But fight where it does the most good... At the polls.

I agree with that SG.
The only problem is, we dont have enough choices.
Publicans get riled up enough to vote out the Demmmies
then the Demmies get riled up enough to vote out the Publicans.
and on it goes.
I think the upper echelons of both sides are happy with this set up, and they laugh at us as we battle over details.
They still have the power and the money, so what do they care, they just wait till their turn.
That's why i dont take sides as far as ideology goes, and why i advocate more parties.
Well I'm changing my party and it will be neither dem or rep. In fact I think politicians and people should be ashamed of themselves with this kind of behavior. I'll be the rest of the world just waiting for the downfall of the USA because of this division
