  1. JJ to bad you had to learn the hard way about the Seaton loyaty to the community and its employees. Shane Farley learned the same lesson a few years back. Maybe you two could team up.

It wasn't just the "stealing" of the story.
You said you spoke to the police chief when you didn't, you became indignant, and denied it when you were caught, and then came up with a very implausible story about spider bites to explain it all away.

    Man up.

It is just inexcusable, and should not be tolerated of anyone at the paper, especially the Managing Editor.

  3. WOW. WORST. EXCUSE. EVER! The spider made me do it.

Maybe it was a radioactive spider. Have you tried shooting webs or climbing walls?

  4. Well from my experience I can tell you that a spider bite can make you ill for days, so I totally understand where James is coming from.

  5. I've never heard of a spider bite that makes the copy and paste buttons on my computer malfunction.

No but have you ever been pressed to make a deadline with a whle lot of loose ends to tie up, then be shorthanded like he suggested.
Sometimes, we tend to go on "automatic" and then find out we made a mistake.
That doesn't excuse the response afterwards or the fact that he might not have checked before he responded.
"But in the end thats what makes us "Human"
    WE ALL MAKE MISTAKES!

"What's more interesting is in this DAY and AGE it only takes a PEBBLE to stop a steam roller."

You can bet that there were plenty of people that while they didn't have anything to do with the error or its creation. They got out from under the microscope!

  7. I'm curious about the person that runs the website. Why they didn't happen to notice?

  8. Too bad you couldn't get your own newspaper started up. I would drop the traveler and subscribe to yours. Sadly that is the only way I can get my local news and public records.

    Stay tuned.
We shall see about that. Its a new age.
    Computers have changed everything.

    On the other comments.
I dont feel like I am making an excuse. That is just what happened.
    It was my fault.
And the way I reacted was wrong too.
I was just trying to make some sense of it all.
I think anyone who knows me at all would say the event was very unlike the way I am normally.
I was definitely acting in an unusual manner for me.
It does not excuse it. Im not asking for that.
    Maybe a little understanding.

I didn't realize computers had copy and paste "buttons" on them. I know of copy and paste menu items, and copy and paste shortcuts (ctrl+C, ctrl+V), but not buttons that perform the copy and paste functions. Maybe you need to get checked for a spider bite.

  12. Yea. I dont know when I have felt so bad, and the first two days i didn't even know what it was.
Been two weeks tomorrow and my feet still hurt a little bit. They were incredibly swollen.
    On the other point.
Nothing is impossible to them that believe.
    :)

  13. I had a friend that was a very prominent business man here in town who DIED about 15 years ago from a spider bite. It can be very dangerous.

  14. Yea
from what i have read, often people dont know they are bitten - i didnt - and they dont get diagnosed in time. A lot depends on how much spider venom you get, and how much time goes by before you get help.
It could have been more serious. I am fortunate - blessed - to have a wife who is an RN.

Well, maybe you need to buy a more expensive keyboard instead of just using the one that came with your computer.. mine has specified buttons for both.

  16. Don't you love how people can be so rude. The man was fired, he got his, if he wants to explain circumstances that may surround the events that led up to him getting fired, then so be it. The fact of the matter it, and James said it, we are human, we make mistakes and there is only one Person we have to answer to in the end. I would suggest a little more compassion and a little less judgement as that is not you job!
