Sotomayor confirmed

The Senate confirmed Sonia Sotomayor Thursday as the first Hispanic justice on the Supreme Court. The vote was 68-31 for Sotomayor.
Does anyone have any opinion on this?
Will this mean a more liberal shift to the high court?
Is there any chance at all that we could ever have a non-partisan appointment and confirmation?

  1. Does anyone have any opinion on this? As long as she governs by the Constitution, and laws of the land (which she said she would do), then I have no issue with her appointment. If she desides to try cases based on her "feelings", or has "empathy" as the President has said, then there is a serious issue. s

Will this mean a more liberal shift to the high court? Nope. Same demographic, 5 right-leaning, 4 left-leaning

Is there any chance at all that we could ever have a non-partisan appointment and confirmation? If there are more than 2 people involved, it will always be partisan in some sort of the way.
