Dialup struggles

I managed to update the web site today. It was quiet the struggle, having to use dial-up instead of ... anything else.
Ive not had a chance to post about the trip because of a lack of internet connections.
Last year there was this nice little coffee shop nearby with free wifi, its gone out of business and there's a national chain pizza place there now.
But I will try to keep the site updated as well as i can.
We are staying at a campground where Davy Crocket was born. Its a really nice place.
I do have a couple classified ads posted, send more in :)
See yall in a few days

  2. Not much activity on here lately anyway. You could probably just wait till you get back.

  3. Four inmates escaping from Kay County is news for sure! Check NEWSCOW! Stolen car, escaped for parts unknown!

  4. You could use a button on your news website for an I-reporter (you could call it U-reporter to keep from having a problem with CNN thinkin you stole their name ). That way as we see it happening we can report it to you and you can check it's validity and post it. Could be you would/could be on top of the news that way. No one reported on the roll over accident at the casino in the early morning last week. No one knew but the people passing by!

  5. When does escaped inmates from Newkirk stop being news? It happens about once a month it seems. They need to build a new jail, or just put the keys out of Otis' reach.

  6. Kay County Escape
Must not be news, traveler did not bother to print it in Thursday evening paper. There excuse the Sheriff didn't call them back. Give me a break. One of the escapees has been from here [Green] and is very dangerous.

  7. JJ heads up, City Commission tonights work session, only city employees can use there wi-fi any more. Sounds to me like there trying to dry up the instant news, so they have more time to cover there mistakes.

  8. It would seem that the City could offer press credentials to allow access.

Not sure what the security issues are when local government is an open process for the public

This could be another move from the Water Czar.

  9. Security is bogus.
All they do is give you access to the wifi, not to any documents or anything city related.
You would still have to sign on to their site to get to anything.

  10. I can see some legitimate concerns on access. Outside sources could introduce one or more viruses. There could also be legal issues as the city's computer systems holds personnel records on employees, accounting applications, and probably court records (I'm sure juvenile records are not public at the very least). There may even be laws preventing access if it is linked to the police and fire computers.

I'm surprised they didn't give JJ specific reasons, but my guess is it has to do with some I've listed above and probably more.

  11. I don’t buy any of that, they could firewall anything sensitive, he only needs access to the internet server not there files. I think its censorship or there feeling threatened, they have been promising to fix the video on the commission meeting for over a year, still junk, why? Money maybe, let’s see that would cost around 3500 dollars yep that’s out of reach, there are other more pressing things or, they don’t like to be scrutinized; hummm (*_-)

  12. Remember when channel 7 was off several days, when they were getting ready to show the Round About video. "Nancy" couldn't set that up the way she wanted and pulled out a bunch of wiring. Thats why 7 was off. What do you suppose that cost to repair?
