There was a story on the AP this morning about how New York City is offering homeless people a free one-way ticket to anywhere they want to go and live. They have to have a relative willing to take them in, but ... its still a free one-way ticket out.
What do you all think of that idea?
Keeping them in shelters costs NYC $36,000 per year.

I don't see a con in this idea if it saves money and as long as they have somewhere to go. Kudos to whoever came up with the idea and it sounds to me like someone on that commission actually cares.
