Good morning.
The latest cop report has been posted on the web site. Nothing real exciting. There were several young people charged with drinking, minor in consumption and such. These are people who are 18. Thats always a good debate - the legal drinking age.
But it is against the law, so you take your chances when you break the law.
Also, ive started putting the time posted on the link to the web site, so you can tell when it has been updated.
The site is continuing to "evolve," but hopefully with some intelligent design behind it as well.
I am still working on the design. I know where I want to go with it, just not quiet there yet.
The city is to have a budget meeting tonight. I plan on going, and I hope to have my internet access figured out by then. I hope to live blog it, so tune in at 5:30 and see if it worked out.
I do not like the way your site is set up to generate more clicks. Any time I enter a discussion thread, I have to back out twice because I have been forwarded twice.
ReplyDeleteAnd many times my comments do not post on the first try, but always do on the second.
But, what REALLY angers me is when I try to exit your site and it tries to open your site on tab after tab, until I finally have to restart my computer.
This actually makes me visit less frequently.
Why can't you just get hits the old fashion way: By having something interesting to say?
does anyone else have this problem?
ReplyDeletemy computer does not do this.
so im wondering what the problem is.
I really want to know how many people are having this problem.
Yes I have the same deal, it is a pain, double click to get to a every thing. Is it the type of browser I'm using?
ReplyDeleteI use firefox. I just checked out the site with Firefox and with Explorer. I did not have that problem.
ReplyDeleteI would appreciate it if everyone would let me know whether or not you are experiencing this difficulty.
Ill keep checking on it.
I'am having the same problem as the other posters.
ReplyDeleteis this just on the blog, or on the site as well?
ReplyDeleteI just went to two other computers in different locations - one being the library - and did not see the problem.
Could someone else please describe exactly what is happening? Thanks.
On the main page, click on a link to go to comments. Now click the little down arrow by your back button on the toolbar. It will show a page visited in between the one you are on and the main page. That means you have to go back twice to get to the main page.
ReplyDeleteAs for the infinite popups, it doesn't happen every time, but does happen about 1 in 10 times I visit.
I have had the problem with it bringing up screen after screen as well. I thought it was my computer doing it! Thanks for letting me know it was the site.
ReplyDeleteHaving the same problem on the blog. First poster described it best. I am using Explorer.
ReplyDeleteim trying to work on it. I cant get my computer to do it.
ReplyDeleteIs anyone NOT having the problem?
I am not having the issues described. I have looked at both sites (web and blog). I do have a little issue that sometimes when I am trying to view the web site my browser does not respond for 1-5 seconds. Only happens about 1 out of every 8 times or so.
ReplyDeleteI am not wanting to call the other folks liars at all but I wonder if you all are having other issues with other sites as well. Sounds like the results of a virus or a bug you cannot get from a site like JJs. The infinite pop ups or opening windows especially sound like some sort of virus.
I have that problem too -- and it's only when I come to JJs blog. And I can't do the back arrow no matter how many times I click it. Glad to see it's not just me!
ReplyDeleteI have the problem of clicking back twice to get to the original page, but it does it on other sites that have ads and have had times where I had to click back up to 4 times on other sites. I also have to post twice, but doesn't bother me. I have windows xp and never have had anything on here open in another tab, but if I've been on vista on a friends computer it opens everything up in a new tab.
ReplyDeleteFrom our experience on computers, the people who are having trouble with bunches of tabs or new windows opening up probably do have a virus or some kind of joke thing on their computer. Also check your computer for spyware.
Well, it only happens on this site, so it must have something to do with it. I thought it might be a computer issue at first also, but then it was only happening on this site.
ReplyDeleteStrange.
@1:13 Do you not notice that you have to go back two pages to get to the main page?
@1:13 Do you not notice that you have to go back two pages to get to the main page?
ReplyDeleteNo, I do not have to.
Maybe Ralph McDonald or some other computer smarty could help figure this out. Maybe it is something with JJs page.
do have to two click to get to main page unless i go to bottom of page and click on home. also have to send two times to get message through.

ReplyDelete"No, I do not have to."
It sounds like you are the only one. Are you using your BACK button, or clicking HOME at the bottom? Everyone who is clicking that BACK button is having to do so twice. What OS are you using?
I do not have to click the back button twice either.
ReplyDelete@ JJ
The issues are most likely coming from ads. I run Firefox with Adblock Plus and do not have problems. I checked how many items were being blocked on your main page 18 of 135 - all advertisements.
I launched IE to compare performance and it crashed.
On occasion I have to click 'post' twice to add a comment though.

ReplyDelete--
I am running vista and the internet explorer by dell that came with it. I also run Kaspersky anti-virus. I do click the back button and not the home button. Some of you all that are having issues my try clearing your cookies or deleting everything you can from that and your history and see if it helps.
Yeah, I agree with the above posters about the drinking age.
ReplyDelete@10:42
ReplyDeleteIt has nothing to do with cookies or our cache being full. It has to do with the way JJ has the site set up to get more clicks and to make ad revenue. As Byte said above.
I have not done anything as far as set up goes to get more clicks.
ReplyDeleteThe only thing I have done is put ads on here.
Im still trying to figure out what is going on.
it has been doing it ever since you started this site. The Traveler blog never did any of these things.
