Really hot

We have had quiet the heat wave lately, with several days over 100 degrees.
That sort of thing makes me curious about records. We did not set any new records, and it doesn't look like we will in the next week. The temperatures are supposed to be "down" into the 90s most of this week.
Tomorrow is the date of the hottest day on record in Arkansas City history. In 1954 it reached 117 degrees. That year was really hot, and record highs were set five days in a row. Here are the records for July 10-14.

10 108°F (1954)
11 112°F (1954)
12 113°F (1954)
13 114°F (1954)
14 117°F (1954)

There is more to this story on the web site: arkcityrevived.com

But as Mark Twain said, "everyone talks about the weather, but no one does anything about it."

  1. jj, as the records show, bye about 50 percent, that we are not suffering from globle warming. It is the left wing retoric and Al Bore o I mean Gore trying to scare the people.

  2. I wondered how long it would take to go from "Man it's hot" to a political rant.

  5. I think it must be the heat from all those laptop computers plugged in over at the city meetings.

  6. We always gonna have some years hotter then others and I don't have too much an opinion on global warming one way or another. All I know is that we have a hole in our ozone layer that continuesto grow larger , the temperature of the earth has averaged one degree higher the last century and the glaciers are melting at an alarming speed. May be truth to global warming but I don't think it's destroying the earth as fast as some radicals believe.

  7. The hole in the ozone opens and contracts randomly and always has. Its not us causing it!

  8. The glaciers have been retreating since the last ice age.

Scientists admit they're wrong about global warming, even though they risk being lynched by the kind of climate change zealots who make atheists look positively rational by comparison.
