Friday morning, todays events, Burford

I am getting a late start this morning. The cop notes have been posted on the site.
I am working on a story about the city commission work session, and that will be posted on here soon.
I wanted to tell you all about a couple of events that are happening today.
Today at 4 p.m. there will be a senior reading program at the Burford. It will be people reading, but the greater point is that it will be at the Burford.
The restoration is slowly taking shape. This is a chance for everyone to see inside and see what has been done.
This is something that will be good for Arkansas City. Hopefully there will be more shows coming.
The cost is $2, and includes refreshments.

The county fair is also going on in Winfield.
I have not heard a lot of talk about it, but it is a big event.
I may go later on and take come pictures.
One thing happening is a celebrity sponge toss. Im not sure what that entails. But, Chambe of Commerce CEO Janet Siebert will be on the stage at 6:45, and local bank president John Sturd will be on at 7:45 p.m. That is happening at the midway stage.
