audacity of $1.4 million

What will Obama do with his $1.4 million Nobel prize>?
here is a good story about that. its not from either side's point of view.
and has some good history about what others have done with their money and prizes.

  3. Maybe if you are concerned, is it possible to call the school and ask?

  4. Nah, more fun to spread rumors.

  5. Not true.
No plans to close schools next week, and not an abnormal number of kids absent at any school.
Thats according to the high school and the district administration office.

  6. So, I'm the poster who asked about the rumor.
I heard from two people at the H.S. that it was around 200 out, and the talk of canceling classes next week.

Also heard from a doctor at the clinic, and someone at the pharmacy that the flu was "rampent" in the schools.

I also know someone who had an appointment at the hospital today, and they made him put on a mask and gown at the door before I came into the hospital.

    Just what I've heard...
Not trying to be an alarmist. I know it's no worse than the regular flu, just hope it dosen't get too disruptive.

  7. Apparently it just isnt true.
School officials are denying it.. and why would they do that?
And, if it was that bad, why would they wait till next week ?
Also talked to two high school kids and two parents - the parents were not parents of the kids i talked with.
They said it wasnt true either.
of course "rampant" could mean many things.
    that could be 10 cases.
but ill keep my eye out and see what happens

  8. Well, I can confirm the mask thing at the hospital, and my kid did say they have to change the dates of a couple of concerts at the High School because there are so many kids out sick. Now, whether that translates to 200 or not, I have no idea.

  9. I called the Middle School and the lady said there were more than 50 gone yesterday.

  10. JJ, most likely they don't want people to panic. But in my opinion, not sharing enough information is worse then hiding it from the public. If the h1n1 flu is going around the schools, they should be warning parents and taking precautions or it won't be looking too good for those in charge. Maybe it could be 200 total in the district that is sick. After all my family had a stomache virus. Then you have the usual respitory things going around.

  11. Apparently it is true. Two high school students told me "nearly 200" are out today. One is out sick today, the other went to school i believe.
    im working on the story
    more details coming

  12. So the question remains. Why would they lie to you when you called yesterday?
