low poltics

Here is something, a new low in politics. A restaurant owner in Georgia puts a racist word on his sign in an attempt to put down Obama's health care reform plans.

Here is a link to the article

  1. Here we go again! The Black rapsters can say aything they want in a song!
Its different if the say it about themselves or others!
But one word by an oposite race and the world comes unglued!
Obama is going to keep Jesse and Al on the run!
I hope they are up to it at their age!

Btw: I don't agree with the use of the slang phrase used or anything meant to be derrogatory
towards any race. Its been around along time.
But publicity like this just fuels it!

  2. I do agree. I think a rapper using that word is just as bad, they should not be getting away with it either.

  3. What do you mean "here we go again"?
Some people don't get it. A rapster is just that. A rapster. And one rapster is just that! Only one!

I am so fed up with ignorant people who justify bigotry by trying to point to a worse case scenario and indict an entire race. Because a rapster demonstrates social ignorance, I too must embrace the message because I am of the same ethnic population right? You could never be more wrong.

You know of a handful of people - people you do not personally know - and you apply the same rhetoric that has limited our ability to truly move past racism.

I see nothing in that sign about black rapsters. In fact, there is nothing about rapsters at all. There is nothing about Rev. Jesse Jackson or Rev Al Sharpton. Still, I will read the article again and see if I missed those points.

The ability to move forward and towards unity hinges on our integrity of simply calling wrong, wrong! It's not hard or complex or even painful. But when someone starts tossing all those rhetorical lines and slogans, it is simply an underhanded way of saying even though something is grossly wrong and an afront to what the whole of America truly represents, we shall defend it and justify that wrongful behavior.

Bottom line is that article points out a blatant demonstration of ignorance and human indecency. So too, is the polarizing language used by some artists whether it be racially derogatory or reprehenisble towards gender. Stupid is stupid and it's time we stop trying to defend stupid or argue it.

I long for the day when America simply develops the guts to tell a social pariah that they stand alone and no one is going to tolerate it, defend it or justify it.

  4. Well lets cut to the chase - I know have known and have met people of all races that simply don't fit the stereotypes people place on their races!
When you talk with them for any length of time
you realize that you share something in common!
Something that trancends age, color or race.
    Its values!
Many have the same hopes and dreams the same worries and concerns. Their kids, their jobs, their health, utilities the rent or house payments.
It also doesn't take long to realize if you and someone else don't share the same basic values!
If there is one thing in todays society that we need to reach agreement on for all the races - Its common/basic values.
You can't have any equality where you have different or opposing values. Because you can't have those who choose to act in irresponsible
manors which are destructive in nature equal with
those who are responsible and who choose to build up society.
Maybe we should be more concerned about how we can keep the growing numbers of Black Men out of Prison. Than about a sign that might anger or separate us!

Or growing the number of men in law enforcement..... or education or health care or civil service.
Maybe not even focus on a negative issue or divisiveness but on opportunity, participation and inclusion. Let's don't wait until people have been tattooed with a prison ID before we get concerned about opportunity, participation and inclusion.

No comment on the water cookies Charles? Remind me to never buy a cookie to help pay your water bill. I thought I was helping someone in need!

  7. I think you all miss the point of the sign...

    Free publicity!

I bet that guy has sold more beer and burgers since that news story hit (over a week ago, btw) than he did the entire two months prior.

There's no such thing as bad publicity.

If you look hard enough for it, you will find racism. Very seldom does it jump out and smack you in the face though. Charles seems to find it everywhere, yet I see it very rarely. He can look at the police department and find it, simply because there are no black officers. I don't see that as racism. I see that as no qualified black applicants. I think it takes someone looking hard to find it so easily.

  8. Little Davey Seaton had this exact same story on his blog over at the Traveler, or I guess here you are mature and call it Brand-X.

Old habits die hard huh JJ? Or did you get another nasty spider bite?

    ReplyDelete
  9. A rapster? Really? Is that even a word?

    ReplyDelete
  10. I think all too often Baby Dave sees things only in Black and White. Rather than in Living Color!

    ReplyDelete
  11. I thought the word was rapper...

    ReplyDelete
  12. I think i had it posted first :)
And it was clear that the material was from somewhere else.
Free publicity is a valid point.
Racism is certainly not a black and white issue. People can have racist attitudes but not be racist. Of course JR sees racism everywhere, he has accused me of having racial attitudes - which i took great offense at.
I worked for someone once (not here) who told racist jokes and liked them, but he did not discriminate when hiring .. so was he a racist?
That term on the sign is often used not as a racist slam, but something else. Doesn't make it ok, just saying its a slang term.
You know the term "jerry-rigged," is the same thing aimed at Jews.
still its not a good thing to be throwing around.

    ReplyDelete
  13. I still here people say "I jewed them down to a better price", or I "jerry rigged" or even "nigger-rigged" something. I don't think it's racist as much as it is habit. Something they heard their parents say, and really only understand the meaning as far as the action they took, not the racial signifigance.

I used to use it all the time when I was a kid, until I realized what I was saying and stopped.

The spider bite must be effecting your memory, again....

Lil'Davey had it posted before noon, you posted yours after 3:00pm. You should "publish" your own newspaper. Just buy all of the unsold Traveler papers for the day and next dayput an "ARK CITY REVIVED" sticker over the Traveler.

  15. This shows me brand-x is reading, and they sound a bit nervous.
I at least checked to make sure it was real before i posted it.
And there are many times I have stuff up there before Brand-X does.
Last week I had the high school flu story two days before, and the business closing one day before.
Im not that hung up on who gets it first though.
But it is fun to know brand-x is watching lol

    ReplyDelete
  16. I just posted a story about how Ark City police dropped drug charges against a woman after some mistakes were made. Newscow sent me the story.
Brand-x .... ummmm doesnt have it yet.

    ReplyDelete
  17. JUst ignore them JJ, they trying to get you riled. Must be one of your old buddies from brand x.
Its only natural that one or another newspaper will get info before the other, but I've said before that sometimes they are slow on the uptake...

    ReplyDelete
  18. Well the only honorable thing to do is a duel at Sunrise at Paris Park! JJ and Davey!
The only thing that hasn't been resloved is what to use for weapons!
    Any Ideas?

    ReplyDelete
  19. How about a box of kleenex?

  20. The pen is mightier than the sword.

    Duel with pens!

  21. Go on Fox News - that gets a liberal everytime!! :-)

    ReplyDelete
  22. maybe they are slower bacause they PRINT a daily paper not just kipe stories from newssteak , they used to do that but JJ got fired

    ReplyDelete
  23. Well brand x does have a web site they can post a story on before the paper is out. Is it that brand x too lazy or just don't have the info? Imagine that, alot more people get their news from the computer now a days instead of buying the paper.

    As for the duel? LMAO!!

  24. Maybe potato cannons loaded with pigeon pooh!

  27. Wrong. I wrote that and I have no connection with the Traveler

Ok sure, (wink wink) your just a JJ hater. If you don't like him don't come read his news or blog. Were ok with that. Or are you just into drama and like stiring the pot? Brand X just needs to understand they aren't the only news source in town, competition is good. Get over it!

    ReplyDelete
  28. JJ is not competition for the Traveler , he has no real advertising $$$$ coming from the site , he is just an unemployed X newspaper employee with alot of time on his hands , he will end up having to get a real job that does make $$$$ and his revolution will on the back burner .

    ReplyDelete
  29. Now THAT sounds like the Traveler.

    ReplyDelete
  30. or the TRUTH
    either way you decide

    ReplyDelete
  31. The readers will decide.
    Competition is good.

  32. I would buy a ticket to a JJ -vs- Dave MMA battle. Or Byte Daily -vs- Music for the messiah, or better yet SG. That would be a night of family bloodletting for all to enjoy. The proceeds could go to the water bill fund. lol

    ReplyDelete
  33. Or Mell Kuhn vs Dave Seaton. THAT would bring the crowds.

    ReplyDelete
  34. may the duals begin.(noon oct 31st) damn i'm laughing so hard i can't type. d

  35. A rapster? Really? Is that even a word?

I kind of like it! It might even have more than one definition or pronounciation.
Either or anyone would work if you listen to their message and look at their lifestyles.
    Not all rappers are rapsters!

    ReplyDelete
  36. Hey, wait just a minute here... From what I've heard, Byte Daily is a female, and I would never hit a female... Empowered or not.

But I'd go watch Kuhn and Seaton rumble. haha

    ReplyDelete
  37. oops, I forgot to sign my name

    -SG

    ReplyDelete
  38. Ok, it sounds like its going to have to be a cage match!
Throw them all in and the best one walks out!

    ReplyDelete
  39. I would pay good money to see that fight...

Pope Charles the Third Vs. Music for the Messiah

James "cut-n-paste" Jordan vs. Davey "I owe it all to my daddy" Seaton Jr.

Mell "foot-n-the mouth" Kuhn vs Patrick "the waffle" McDonald

Sucks Daily, er I mean Byte Daily vs. Logic

The winner of each match gets a free ride out of town....

    ReplyDelete
  40. testy, testy ouch!!!!!! d.

    ReplyDelete
  41. Wait, why does the winner have to leave town?

    ReplyDelete
  42. Nevermind, now that I think about it, getting out of this town would be a good prize. haha
