About 3 weeks earlier than usual it seems.
ReplyDeleteI started bringing plants in today and have a tons more to go. We still have lot's of peppers, tomatoes and okra. I was hoping that we would be lucky enough this year that they would produce longer but it doesn't look like it.
ReplyDeleteI thouhgt okra was one that did better in the cold. Well, I am not as mucha gardener as I am one who maybe overhears gardeners talk. Best wishes on the crop.
ReplyDeleteI just visited with a local businessman recently. He read me a letter he recieved about the staus of the State UI. (Unemployment Insurance.)
ReplyDeleteIt stated that at the current rate of drawdown it will be out of money around the first of next Year!
Maybe a little off topic - and maybe not!
But, what about global warming? Al Gore couldn't be wrong about that could he?
ReplyDeleteI don't like their reasoning for progress!
ReplyDeleteI do think there are better ways to do things than what we have today!
But, it is bad when the competition for better can be controlled by large corporations and Government regulation. Which can go for or against industry/competition!
I think the Edison invented light bulb was a miracle of our time. But, it is energy inefficient and wasteful and there are new miracles like LED.
So, whether you believe in Global Warming or not - or whether mankind is it cause - you have to believe that with knowledge comes responsibility. The question is do we have the will to use our knowledge?
btw: One thing that you don't hear much about but might be a great benefit is the Smart Electric Grid!
ReplyDeleteI haven't read alot about it but from what I gather - it is a two way communicating system.
It would have the capability of suggesting times to do certain energy consuming tasks.
(Like run your dishwasher, washing machine, dryer etc.) Do them at off peak hours at lower rates.
It might actually help to reduce the peak demands that occur from our being creatures of
routine and habit!
With the growing demand for electricity and the continual debate over the what is the best source of generation. Why not find better and more efficient ways to conserve? Plus better utilize the current capacity.
One other note: It's already been proven that by changing the sequence of traffic lights in some of the bigger cities that it can have an impact on fuel usage/conservation.
I think cap and trade is really about Big Government being a Bully!
But you do have to ask yourself why aren't the Industry leaders LEADING or letting anyone else compete?
