  1. Heard a lot of negative comments on the bulldog team over their loss and even brand x basically did a put down story of the game. Way to go to all those that don't realize what a hard team the bulldogs played. How bout we recognize how they are doing better?? How bout the positive that they at least scored 14 points against a really tough team!!

  2. I agree, we should be supporting the Bulldogs.
Brand X was kinda negative at that.
They are having a good season. They have a realistic chance of having a winning season, which is better than what they have had in recent years.
They are 4-3 now, and will be playing a pretty good Newto team this coming Friday. Newton is 6-1, but just barely got past Winfield last week.
The last home game will be with Winfield.
Definitely a winable game for the Bulldogs.

  3. I forgot to mention, that Newkirk is having a good season. That state line is so big, but they play for their region title in Oklahoma City next Friday.

  5. Just in the context of keeping it real and positive for the area teams, maybe it isn't that Newton is a fluke. Maybe they barely beat Winfield because they field a decent and competitive team also. no need to be hating on Winfield.

I think the Cowley cup game will be really exciting. They play the same teams. Winfield has played the beastmaster teams (Salina, Kapaun etc) earlier in their season.

I applaud the ACHS football team and they are playing with some competitiveness that has been lacking under the previous AD's leadership. It seems like the new guy has already heated his branding iron to make his mark on the program.

Lets just see how the season plays out and keep cheering for them dogs!!

  6. Actually, the article was a reprint from the Wichita newspaper. Wake up Ark City. We don't live on an island AND there are people in this world who will tell you that you stunk it up if you stunk it up.

Lets not forget that the boys from Kapuan are the same age and came into the world the same as the AC kids. Something makes them excel beyond what is happening in AC. Maybe it's because they teach their boys to "man up" instead of parents fighting their battles for them.

I imagine there's a time or two in the mall when the kids from Heights let the kids from East know who won the big game. And thekids from East respond by ho hum lets say GETTING BETTER!!!

  7. The reason i said that about Newtwon was the records of the respective teams. Newton is 6-1 and Winfield is 3-4 i believe, so i was expecting Newton to beat them worse than they did.
The bulldogs will have a battle Friday, but you never know.

  8. Wasn't it Kapuan that was busted recruiting the best around 20 years ago? I know it was one of the schools from the wichita area. It was around that time ac had a super football team that ranked 3rd in state. Well the school that got busted was suspended and bulldogs went on to state finals.

  9. I wasnt here then, but that Kansas has an "open attendance" policy is a problem.
In Kansas you can go to whatever high school you want to, so that is a system ripe for abuse.
In most states you have to go to the high school where your parents live, or get a special exemption from the school board.
In Arkansas your parents have to live in, or work in, the district where you go to high school.
In the town I lived in, really good players parents from surrounding small towns would "just happen" to get a job at the mill right before preseason practice started.
A 2-a school went from a powerhouse to a bad team when parents of their QB, RB, and best OL, got jobs at the mill. The 5-A school suddenly had its QB and RB problem solved.

  10. I think it is ridiculous that so much money and effort goes into recruiting HIGH SCHOOL KIDS. They should be learning their lessons and not worrying so much about sports. I was sickened to read of the Oklahoma hogh school that was busted for recruiting star players just last week.
