  1. I heard some old boy at the donut shop saying he heard the "packing plant" (creekstone?) was closing? Anyone else heard this?

Sounds like a rumor to me, but in these times, who knows.

  2. Ill check around.
But I do hear that rumor about every 3 months, and have been since it opened.
They do have layoffs every few months.

  4. Why are there never any good rumors.
    How about this.
    Lets spread this one...

A new company is coming to town that is gong to hire 3,000 people at $25 per hour.
    :)

  7. Ok, I'll spread the good rumor!

Seems to me bout every newspaper, print or internet, has police reports.

  8. Tell me what you all want to see on here.
Cop reports seem to be popular.

  9. Mr. Jordan,

Do you check your archives? Someone claiming to be in cahoots with a city commish has stated they (together) have ordered IP tracking software and are going to come after people, and implied that those people should be scared. I do not think this is possible, and I don't know if he was serious or not. BUT - is this acceptable on your blog?? I do not know this person, but if this were my blog, I would block this person and put a statement somewhere as to what the rules are.

  10. As long as there is no editing or editorializing, I don't see how any law-abiding citizen would oppose the reports. They are why I visit newscow, and once they started printing them, I cancelled my Traveler subscription.

As threats go, that was a fairly mild one.
Im not going to say if its possible, because ... i have my reasons for not saying. :)
But, the rules are kind of all or nothing.
This is a public forum, so really, almost anything goes.
I do delete extreme posts. I am the one who decides what "extreme" is.
I dont let people accuse individuals of illegal activity.
Thats about all the rules there are.

So there is a threat spectrum? You and I differ here. If someone said they could find out where I lived and I should be worried, I would consider that more than a mild threat.

I dont let people accuse individuals of illegal activity.
    >>
Hmmm - that comment seems somewhat random. I've not seen this on any of your blogs. If someone's name is on the public arrest record, can this not be a point of discussion? Manson did some pretty horrible stuff, he can't be accused of illegal activity? Or are you saying (what I think you're saying) they can't be accused until found guilty? Then are they fair game?

  13. IF you got the sitemeter on this page it will show you IP addresses -- how you find out who they belong to -- i'm not sure about that. I would think that would take more info than any of us have. But it does show what city or area you are from. Interesting.

  14. http://whatismyipaddress.com/

It also tells you how to look up someone's location if you know their IP address.

In the US, the only way to get an IP name is thru Court Order and are only given out for serious criminal activity. All a normal person can determine from an IP address is general geographical location.

  15. I'm curious if they have any idea who tampered with the gas meter of the woman and her 3 kids? I want to know what the police are doing about this -- it doesn't say anything in the paper? I'm very concerned about it -- someone tried to kill them all! Do you have any way to follow up on that JJ?

  16. So, then, the person who made the threat either a) doesn't realize such software does not exist, and is an idiot for buying it; or
    b) knows the software does not exist and is trying to bully someone

Either way, the biggest problem I have with the threat is the poster said that it is he and a current commisioner who would be doing this. So the commisioner is party to it. I spose if no one else has a problem with this, then I am making too much out of it.

  17. idk, jj. It just seems like a prurient mind would want to read that. Kind of like the folk who keep the police scanner going 24/7. I guess people who like that stuff don't have a life, so they feed off other's misfortunes. Get a life. Point is, thanks for asking what we think. But, ultimately, it's your call. I will still come here whatever you decide, cause truth is...I like you jj.

  18. Gee, let's examine this. One or two of the commissioners are bullying people??

I WONDER WHO IT COULD BE??? WHICH COMMISSIONERS WOULD DO SUCH A THING????

    (that was sarcasm)

    ReplyDelete
  19. Ok
Ill check on the gas meter tampering thing.
Im not so sure the criminal intended to kill the people in the house, but it certainly could have happened.
Chief Wallace is out till Thursday, but I will check.
On the commissioner thing ... i think someone is trying to make to big of a deal over it.

I have mixed feelings on cop notes.
I dont care that much for profiting off the misery of others, but at the same time, the public needs to know.
I have thought of witholding names on most cases. But that could get really complicated too.

  20. If they don't want their name in the blog, they should abstain from committing crimes. I have no fear of my name ending up on here. And if it ever does, you have my permission to print it. Because I will deserve it.

  23. I like to read police notes and I like to know whats going on. Right now I really watch the police notes because I am watching for a certain name (pops up a couple times a year in police records) that I need to know where he is at, at ALL times.

  24. They call it hacking into computers. Its also illegal.

    ReplyDelete
  25. I agree with anonymous June 16, 2009 9:29 PM ...

JJ, its not profiting off others misery. They break the law, then they should be embarrassed.

  26. Cupcake,

I like that name for a scared individual!
