Sanitation workers to the rescue

Two city sanitation workers recently saved a family from a potentially deadly situation. On May 28, Raymond Hansen and Frazier Brown were doing their normal trash collecting, but the morning quickly turned into anything but normal.
The heard a hissing sound and soon realized there was a gas leak in the 100 block of E. Jefferson.
A woman, Casey Maybury, and her children were inside a house that was being filled with gas. The two men got her and her kids out and notified authorities.
The gas meter had been tampered with during the night and was spewing out a lot of gas. The gas had also filled the house.
City officials, and Kansas Gas officials, confirmed that the gas meter had been tampered with.
City Commissioners plan to honor the two city employees at second meeting in June.

  1. How horrible someone would do that on purpose! That is one rotten thing to do. Thankyou to the fine sanitation workers for recognizing a potential deadly hazard.

  2. So are the police investigating this?

  3. Nice work fellas. Now let's hope the police investigate who tampered with the meter and why. Keep us updated JJ.

And speaking of updates, what ever happened with the radio station couple accused of selling drugs? Have they been to court yet?

  4. Nope. They are working and mingling with the young people of the community as if nothing happened. I am keeping my kids away from any of their shindigs. I'm sure they'll get a slap on the wrist, probably not even probation.
(Allegedly, and only my opinion. All within the limits of the law)

That is quite smart. Too many young people - under 12 or so - running around town unattended this time of year doing all sorts of bad stuff. Keep them locked up please. And preferably with a pacifier. Especially keep them out of the library, the grocery stores, and my yard.

  8. Innocent until proven guilty... and the Cowley County district court moves VERY VERY slowly. They still likely have a year until charges are filed. It stinks.

  9. JJ, put another off topic post up. Seemed to work pretty good the last time.

I don't approve of them either, but I am not going to let them stop me from attending a worthy cause.
