NARAL Pro-Choice America said that as of Saturday, 45 vigils had been scheduled in 24 states in honor of George Tiller.

Vigils were scheduled Saturday in Jacksonville, Fla., and Santa Monica, Calif. Vigils are scheduled today in Madison, Wis., Milwaukee, Portland, Ore., and Allentown, Pa.

During the coming week, vigils will be held in Washington, D.C., Denver, Baltimore and Rochester, N.Y.

The group, which was founded as the National Association for the Repeal of Abortion Laws and later became the National Abortion Rights Action League, said that more than 12,500 people had put their names on an Internet memorial wall for Tiller. The wall is located at www.remembertiller.com.

  1. Yeah, because he's such a hero. A real Protector of the Innocent!

Really speaks to the shape of our nation, doesn't it.

  2. Is George Tiller a hero or a villan. It all depends on how you view life I suppose. If you believe that life begins when that sperm and egg are joined, then Tiller is a villan. If you believe that there is no life unless the joined egg and sperm can survive (ie breathe and sustain life) outside of the womb, then he might be considered a hero. Life, that's what it all boils down to. When does life begin.
This is not something that can be proven with a bible verse. Nor can it be disproved. But I'd think that life begins with the joining of the egg and sperm. That little spark. That's when God breathes life into a new creation.
I hear people saying this alot, "Your rights end at the point that they infringe on my rights". One of our rights, in the constitution is Life. It is that simple. It doesn't say when we are accorded that right, it simply says we have the right to Life.
If we have a right to life, and someone wishes to kill us, then legally that person is trying to take away my constitutional right. Even if it's the Supreme Court. They can not remove a constitutionally given right.
So, is Tiller a villan or a hero? In my mind he's a villan, simply because he broke faith with the rest of the United States and tried to deprive people of their constitutionally granted right to Life.

  3. So I assume you are against the Plan B pill? Just curious.

  4. If you mean the "morning after" pill, then I, for one, have no problem with it.

My personal belief is that if the sperm and egg have not yet attached and begun to grow, then they are not yet a viable fetus. I think it should be used in those instances where normal birth control obviously fails (SNAP!), or in cases of rape. I would rather IT were used as birth control than abortion.

I am a little more open than some when it comes to abortion. I believe that in cases of mental health issues, or physical deformities, or rape/incest, then it is up to the woman and her mate to choose what they should do. That would be a very tough decision, as it should be.

But, what really makes my blood boil is people who just do it for convenience. (93% of all abortions) Especially in the second or third trimester.

  5. I'm not sure exactly how the morning after pill works to be honest. But if it affects the the joined egg and sperm then yes, I would have a problem. Again, would you kill someone that was on a feeding tube and didn't have higher brain functions? That persons life is dependent on another for survival. If you don't place a high value on human life right from the start, you have people who are willing to cheapen and degrade it by calling it a fetus or some other such thing. Hitler used the same rationale when refering to the Jews. If you de-humanize it, you can do anything you want.

  6. Mr. Mcdonald, did you just compare Tiller to Hitler? I used to think you were ok. Guess I better get friendly with Best Buy again.

  7. Best buy? You must not read the internet much. Do a search on Best buy return policy. It's horrendous.

JJ, do you think you could find some bigger font for your headline next time, I'm having trouble reading it.

Maybe Hitler and Tiller are sharing a bunk right now.

  8. Yes, I did compare Tiller to Hitler, perhaps not in the way you took it though. Tiller obviously wasn't running around killing 6 million jews. HOwever, he did dehumanize infants and babies in the womb to justify his beliefs. That's the same thing Hitler did, he dehumanized Jews, Blacks, and a bunch of others so that he could attempt to justify killing all those people. Hitler is a GREAT example of that particular psycological effect. Oh, and by the way, if you've ever used an extreme example to prove your point before, you've done the same thing I just did..oh wait, I just did it again. Its call comparative reasoning.

  9. It can take up to 36 to 48 hours for conception to take place after sex, from my understanding anyways... sooooo, one wouldn't know if conception has taken place by the time a woman takes the morning after pill. My personal opinion is one could not really call it an abortion because at that point, there really isn't a brain , lungs or anything vital at that time.

  10. I don't find the brains and lungs argument satisfying personally because if left alone those things would develop normally. I do however agree that the morning after pill is not abortion because conception has likely not occurred, or at least not attached and begun to grow on it's own.

There are some people who think that sperm in a kleenex is abortion, so everyone has their own opinion what constitutes life. I don't see how anyone can argue that a second or third trimester abortion simply for convenience is not murder though. I can see and kind of understand the argument for the very early stages, even though I don't believe in it, but the later stages are impossible to argue IMO.

  11. I am thinking about 3 years old is the point when a life is really a life worth keeping. Infants can't eat, drink, walk, speak, burp, use the toilet. What's the point of that. We have too many people on this planet as it is.

  12. I'm gonna pretend I didn't read that last comment. I don't know exactly if you are making a sarcastic point or you really feel that way.

Here's a short article about conception, if anyone is interested....

  14. You should read the book Auchswitz in regard to the Nazis and their human experiments during WWII.
They were interested in the higher multiple birth rates which were more common in the Gypsies. As I recall the book was written by a Doctor who was involved in those experiments.
I believe M4M has a point when it comes to de-humanizing and to disregard the lessons of past History is to usually to repeat it!
Oh, and for some of you it wasn't just fiction.

  15. I wouldn't kill the jews or the gypsies. I would kill the conservative republican christians.

And I don't just mean liberals this time.
