Arkansas City will not be the focus now, but we can still talk about the town. For now the blog is a blog in search of an identity. Considering what the new niche will be.

Mozittis closed
Newscow is reporting that Mozitti's is closed for now. here is a link to the story http://www.newscow.net/story.php?StoryID=3071
Only went in there a few times, everytime my food was cold and got terrible service. The thing that really kept me from going back was when I walked out the door and there are five people at the host stand and not one of them says thanks!! It's the little things in the food industry that really make the difference.
I have heard about bad food or service there some. But my experience there was always good. One time the food was cold, it was fixed right away with copious apologies. Always thought there were some pretty girls working there too, and they were always sweet to me.
I had lunch there once with my family and didn't care too much for experience. For one, We had a really long wait even though half of the restaurant had empty tables. Then we ordered and it took forever to get our food. Then two of the people with me hated their pasta, One is a huge pasta lover and it was a shock that she didn't like it. Then it cost an arm and leg to have lunch there. Anyways, We haven't been back and I ain't missing anything. I'm sorry that she is closing ( not shocked) but when you open a place like that in AC- You have to treat people decent and from the looks at the other post we weren't the only ones treated that way.
I absolutey loved their food! I never had anything bad, pizza, pasta, sandwiches, salad, garlic bread -- it was incredible. And I didnt find it too pricey --what are you expecting, McD's prices? I will miss it, I was a lunch regular and they took very good care of me!
In the food business it is very hard to please the masses and if you ate at Mozitti's very often you would know that they worked day and night to try to please with new menu items. In a restaurant that is not part of the "chain of fast food" it is very hard to compete both financially and with time. Mozittis does not buy in the bulk of MacDonalds or Arby's but what it did offer was a table cloth, a sit down meal with class and quality. It is something that many in other areas take for granted but here we have to pray someone will try again.
Want a classy night out? Where do you go? It won't be here unless class is KFC or Arby's. While they are good, they are not the place that romance, celebration, relaxation or special mood are made of. The economy is bad, the attitude in this town awful and the expectations of the public unrealistic. Mozittis is gone...do we deserve anything else?
Well keep on praising them, the employees got screwed, blued and tatooed or, however you prefer to describe it. When times got tough, they should of figured specials and things like that, or they would of had a better chance of not having to consider bankruptcy.
Yeah, that goes for the entire group of businesses in the same boat. No stimulus money, no federal buyout but the harsh reality that no matter what you do sometimes it just isn't enough. The small town business will always get the short end of the stick. Knowing the owners, I am sure that if there is any possible way to pay them that they will...they are friends and neighbors....Not the government handing out favors.
No, they just can't backpay the employees that need their money. The owners could at least cough up some money to pay the employees. I mean we aren't looking at them trying to pay several hundred people. I willing to bet they got money stashed somewhere they could use to pay those people.
Personally: I would stack Mozitti's up against "Olive Garden" or "Macaroni Grill" any day. Good everytime we ate there. Good prices. and as someone mentioned a tablecloth. Some people expect too much. Give the folks a break. The Ryan's are good people. They tried. Which is more than most of the people posting on these blogs. I swear some people can't see the good in anyone's efforts. (except their own)
D.Q. You making me think of Dairy Queen blizzards!!! :)
I agree with you, the food was good and all, staff very friendly. The employees should of been paid though. I hope if they haven't yet, they do it soon.
I ate at Mozitti's about 2-3 months ago and my meal was disgusting. I am the type of person who likes to try new things so I ordered some sort of mushroom ravioli and it was SO GROSS. I don't blame Mozitti's though, my fault for being 'adventurous'. You win some, you lose some.
Everything I had prior to that was really good though!! Oh well.
Why are you bitching about you bad ravioli here, they needed feedback, not knife in the back, you should have sent you food back and made them rise to there potential, don’t except mediocrity, since you paid your bill and whet on only to complain here you and those like you eventually closed them down. I see you do that often, not very productive and certainly not adventures.
And then PS, that’s hypocritical and disingenuous.
June 22, 2009 To all Friends and Guests: As we shopped in silence looking for signs to sell our home I reflected on the past , lets see almost two years ! Mozitti’s is and always can be a very good restaurant. We are very proud of its achievements. Our faithful Dinner Guests came from miles around as close as the neighboring towns of Winfield , KS and Newkirk OK , as far North as Wichita, KS and as far South as Oklahoma City, OK. More than once I heard them say “ It was well worth the drive” the great thing is they said it every time they dinned with us! And of course our Lunch guests of Arkansas City, KS, many we knew what they were going to order before they ordered it, they came in so often. Our Employees were a real good crew, great people, they are all like family to us. Most of them went through our many changes and difficulties with great vigor. To these aforementioned people we extend our apologies. Now we come to the question as to “Why did we decide to close such a successful establishment, Mozitti’s ?” The fact is when I can’t physically be a part of my own restaurant because I can’t afford to have others do the things that take me away from my employees and guests. When my husband must be gone weeks to months working to pay bills . Then I have to hang it up, my presence is important for Mozittis for its extended life. That, coupled with health, the economy and lack of working capital has brought us to this day, a day we never wanted to see happen. Now when we pound our sign into the ground and look at the home we are going to miss, we smile, think of regrouping. Finding ourselves thinking about the new menu I was working on and the joy I had testing the recipes and my husband eating them and thought of the dinners our guests have not even tried yet and the times we could have had with our employees. A new place yes, that’s always possible. We reflect on how happy we are that we did not loose the most important things in our lives, our faith and love for each other. Before we can move on... the bottom must hit, the cards must fall it wont be easy for anyone. Then we might think of starting again. I have to admit that i was not a fan of their food, but we did eat there a few times. The first time I had the spaghetti and meatballs, and it was very good, but then we went back a few months later and they had chaged their meatball recipe and it was HORRIBLE. Alpo would have been better. I did tell them I liked the old ones better, but I don't know if it did any good because I never went back. I hope the employees get paid what they are owed, as well as all of the businesses that sold them stuff on credit. Seems they should have kept up on the bills a little better.
The wait staff was great. The kitchen help...not so much. My family ate there many times and when they put the bar in, I told my wife it was not a good idea. I also thought being closed on Mother's Day was a bad idea (although one day's sales would surely not make or break a place). Often the (I assume) boss man would be absent from the kitchen, a bad idea at a full-service restaurant. I have managed places in this, and several other towns. This is by far the toughest town in which to find good, reliable help and customers who want to spend any more than about 8.99 for all they can eat.
The first year was incredible. I hope we don't have to wait long for another good restaurant. It won't last long, but it is always nice when something special like Mozitti's breezes through our little town. Hello Rusty Barrel.
I think an exocist is in order. That location has had many good restraunts that do not last but a year or two.
ReplyDeleteI love Mozzitti's food, but the service had gotten lax in the last few months.

ReplyDeletePretty sure the rent was pretty high by AC standards. Maybe they can find a cheaper place and try again.

DQ - Big fan of the Olive Garden are you? It is an insult to Mozitti's to be put in a class with that reheated frozen food s-hole.
