Arkansas City will not be the focus now, but we can still talk about the town. For now the blog is a blog in search of an identity. Considering what the new niche will be.

Just taking a pot shot
Brand-X has in its breaking news, on Monday afternoon, that Friday night a semi nicked a flower pot on Summit. You won't see that sort of pretentiousness here.
I did not make it to Prairie Fest this year; didn't even go downtown on the weekend for a drive. However, as I drove past the sign at Summit & Maple Avenue I had this harmless thought. The origins of Prairie Fest was to celebrate the beauty of the natural elements of the area. It was intended to build an artistic framework for our non-urban amenities of nature. In fact the signature event was once held at a site a few miles east of the city.
So, I thought it a bit odd that "PRAIRIE" Fest would wind up in the asphalt and concrete jungle amid a congress of cars and semis navigating through the sea of South Summit. No real conclusion on whether it is good, bad, better or worse.
HA HA HA....oh wait that is how the Traveler ran even when you were still editor. I also recall that News Cow was considered a joke, now that the Traveler fired you, News Cow is the top of the line in reporting.
Honestly you need to move on, find something better to do than grind axes on the blog.
whats going on at the old branyts hardware building saw a sign while taking my morning walk some thing about adams liquor tobbaco store opening soon do we really need a booze shop uptown
They had to keep something up there to explain how they "misinterpreted" scanner traffic and originally offered us breaking news about a dramatic high speed chase. Of course there was no chase, it was just another case of botched reporting.
Some of the city commissioners (probably Kuhn) want more bars and clubs uptown. At least with a liquor store they can't drink it on site. People live without morals and then wonder why really bad things happen around here sometimes.
We don't have a solution that will yield total peace in the Middle East. But, I would love to see a reconciliation between Seatons and Jordan.
This becomes a microcosm that sums up the malady of Arkansas City: Plenty of resources and capability but unable to work through issues for the benefit of the greater community and for a greater community.
James Jordan is a joke and was a joke at the Traveler. That's precisely why I love his blog. I'm an editor at a major newspaper. I can say for sure I would never hire him. However, I love reading his work for the comical value and reaffirming what not to do as a journalist.

I was never impressed with George W. Bush as PResident. As a past President, a comment from Mrs. Bush but attributed to him greatly influenced my opinion of him. She mentioned that, President Bush had no intentions of making public his opinions of President Obama. He would rather just let the current POTUS do his work and let the people draww their own conclusion.
2. We have a saying in church. If you KNOW your Bible, you the Sunday school needs you. If you don't know your Bible you need the Sunday school.
3. Not sure why an eidtor at a major news paper would spend time jabbing at another editor instead of focusing on honing their own skills. Are you sure everyone agrees that your work is superior to Mr. Jordan? It can be humbling at times to find out the difference between a self-opinion and the opinion of one's critics.
Hmmmmm. An editor of a major newspaper who writes as anonymous. Perhaps a paradox? Perhaps an inigma? Perhaps a misrepresentation?
What can i say, other then LOL!
ReplyDeleteAnother reason to move Prairie Fest back to the park.
ReplyDeleteThink of all the oxygen we are missing out on from that plant.
Global warming is going to kill us all! All because Prairie Fest was downtown!

Just thought it a bit of a paradigm shift.
That was so "newsworthy" NOT!

Perhaps she meant one of the major papers in Kay County.
