dems want a piece of joe

Here is an article from the Washington Post.
Democrats are planning to vote next week on whether to formally sanction Joe Wilson for his outburst during Obama's speech last week. Joe said he was sorry, and Obama accepted his apology. But Dems seem to want a bit more. They want him to apologize before the entire House i guess.

  1. He should, if he was man enough to yell out during the Presidents speech in the house, he should be man enough to apolgize in front of the house. The president was greatly disrespected, but so were his peers. He needs to suck it up and apologize in the house. IF he can do that, he will gain some respect back. Pretty simple. Unless he isn't sorry he did it.

  3. He was lying and the guy couldn't hold back. I don't blame him. Did all of the Democrats who booed Bush during his speeches go before the entire House and apologize?

  4. Rep. Wilson will apologize next week.

I wonder why the Washington Post omits that Rep. Wilson was asked to apologize to the House by House Minority Leader John Boehner?

  5. I think the Democrats need to apologize for Nancy and maybe even ask her to pay for her trip to see the Pope!
Its getting to the point where we are becoming the laugh stock of the world!
Not only do we owe them a fortune but we are providing their entertainment as well!
We need to impeach them all and start over.

I would agree with you if you mean Democrats and republicans as well. We need someone to lead this nation that doesn't have their party's agenda first and foremost, someone that cares about the welfare of the american people, not the big corporations.

While I agree with part of your statement lets not forget the role of Labor Unions and such in the debate! They have done alot to set themselves apart or above all others by using the Government!
We really don't have to go too far back in our history to see that we have done a lot of this to ourselves!
In the early 90's Clarke forklifts still had the 4 cylinder flat head Continental engines developed in the 30-40's. While Nissan and others were using an overhead valve engine that was more powerful and dependable. Briggs and Straton was still using its old mainstay with the valves in the engine block and Honda was selling an Overhead valve unit. Over and over we were defeated by our own inability to compete!
The Big three have been bested by their competitors through their inability to maintain the pace of the competition. They tried to use the Government as a tool to try to dictate the competition instead of matching or leading it. The consumer confidence has turned in favor of foreign vs. domestic!
We should have been the leaders all along and not the followers!
To the rest of the developing world we are becoming a bunch of sore losers. Beaten at our own GAME!

  8. I agree that our big business was beaten at their own game. The government still doesn't have to powder their butts! There are some that are making record profits at our expense. Labor unions were good for what they were made for years ago. Now they are a danger to our country.

  9. In the late eighties, I owned a small 3 cylinder car made by chevy that got 55 to 60 miles per gallon. Two years later, the government passed regulations that outlawed that car's carburator because of emissions or some such nonsense, and the ones that came out with the new carburator got much fewer MPG.

If we could make it back then, why can't they make it now?

The oil companies! The oil lobby didn't like for cars to get that good of gas mileage, and they're not gonna sit still for all these new electric hybrid cars either.

Our country is ran by big business, and as long as that continues, we will never have a country for the people by the people as our forefathers envisioned.

Agreed! But did you notice how much the States and Federal Government say they lost in taxes due to the rise in oil and gas prices that resulted in a significant decrease in consumption?

  11. It's all about politics, right after the speech Nancy Pelosi said she didn't think he needed to apologize. He did and the President accepted. Now the Dems are doing the usual and making a big political stink about it to make him lose his seat.

  12. Yes
it will backfire though. He is loved in South Carolina. if anything, this will make him even more of a hero.
Might even give him momentum to get into the governors office.
but it is just politics as usual.
    makes me even more cynical.
