I completely forgot to mention what happened at the end of the city commission meeting Tuesday night.
Commissioner Dotty Smith invited everyone in Arkansas City to come to the senior center on Thanskgiving Day, for dinner, starting at 3 p.m.
She said she came up with idea while trying to plan for her extended family, which is too large for her house.
She ended up reserving the senior center, and decided to make it a community event.
She said people are already getting involved. Turkeys have been donated, as well as some other items.
If you would like to get involved with helping, contact her through City Hall.
It just has to be said!
ReplyDeleteThanksgiving turkey with the City Commissoners, or at least with commissioner Doty. Is that "turkey with turkeys"..........?
Is this a city sanctioned event? Or is a commissioner using the city's public media operation to advertise a private function?
ReplyDeletenow THATS taking naysaying to a whole nuther level.
ReplyDeleteI suppose it is using the city's public media operation as you suggest.
But, she has invited everyone in town - the public.
Also, she has frequently used the city's public media operation, as a means to support festivals and other events in the community.
I think it is a nice gesture.
ReplyDeletethere always has to be one (or two) in the crowd. Good for Dotty!
ReplyDeleteI hope the whole community gets behind it and alot of people who might not have as good of feast benefit. Especially those with children
ReplyDeleteand the elderly!
9-2 1:30pm
ReplyDeleteIt was a joke, lighten up!
I could have asked if there would be a beer garden.
Will this be the first anual Bong A THon???
ReplyDeleteI don't agree with her on much but this is a nice thing to do.
ReplyDeleteSeriously, I hope it was a joke.
ReplyDeleteOpposing something like this would be unimaginable. Almost as if someone might have anything negative to say about the President of The United States speaking to school children about the importance of staying in school, and working hard.
