Good Labor Day

Labor Day today. Nothing much happening looks like.
It was a day we looked forward to when I lived on Hilton Head Island in South Carolina. That was the weekend all the D*** Yankee tourists went back up north.
We would go from a population of around 100,000 to about 15,000 over the weekend.
An amazing transition occurred.
Same thing happened in reverse, though not as dramatically, on Memorial Day weekend.
Really was like living in two different towns, the summer season and the off season.
I think its more a year round tourist place now. People started figuring out how nice it was in Sept. and Oct. there, and that the winters were not bad at all. Rarely got below freezing.
So Labor Day makes me think of that place. I miss the ocean and the beach. Of course we did have hurricanes. I sat through Hugo there.
But its the end of summer.
What does Labor Day mean to you?

  1. Labor Day means going to work just like any other day! Could of chosen to take it off, but elected not to. :)
