Walnut Valley Festival officials have rescheduled the landrush for Saturday, Sept. 12. It was originally set for Sept. 10 and has been put off because the river is rising.
There will be a rise in the Walnut River over a small part of the West Campground and the Pecan Grove. We are told by Cowley County Emergency Operations Center that the bottom of the concrete slab in front of Stage 3 is where the river will top out. The river will come up fast and go down just as fast!
There are about 550 units already in the Fairgrounds. They will not have to move out. Officials say they are unable to handle a large influx at the moment.
