Live blog Wednesday

Don't forget the live blog with police chief Sean Wallace. 7 p.m. Wednesday.
There will be some reader participation, but I will not be able to post every single comment and question.
The point of a live blog interview is to hear what the person being interviewed has to say, it is not to let readers randomly attack the interviewee.
Some pointed questions might be good however.

  1. This may be wrong place for this, but I know I got the right person to send this to

why don't you have a site for the USD 470 on the page or are we not going to keep up with them. Today's story about not letting the kids watch President Obama would have been good for us to know why they let them watch G.W. Bush, R.R. Ragan times before but not Pres. Obama who basically said the same thing others had said . It is a shame they listen to fox news and then blocked our kids from seeing a speech about staying in school and controlling your destiny.

You know we even had to call the traverler to have them post a photo of the newly elected president this year. What is wrong with this city, when it comes to publishing any thing positive for minority and especially the first African AMERICAN PRESIDENT

  2. I agree, it seems we have rolled back a notch or two. For those kids who didn't get to see the president speak it is a loss. I know as a child in the 60's I watched them bury a president on tv at school. Too bad some parents/teachers don't feel secure enough to let the children watch it then discuss it. Could this be the begining of sensorship? And some thought we needed to be afraid of was socialized medicine.

  4. A big part of the reason is a lack of coooperation from the school district.
They are not returning my phone calls, or emails, asking for information.
Everyone else has been really great as far as recognizing arkcityrevived as a news organization.

As per the president on TV. I was going to write a post about that. I really think it is a sad commentary on our culture that people would not want their children to hear the president speak.
But, before you rush to judgment, there would be just as many objecting on the other side if the president were a republican.
Yes, Bush and Reagan did speak to children on TV, and the Left raised hell about it. They even had an investigation that we tax payers had to pay for.

I really think the political party is a bigger issue than race. I think the country was ready for a black president. We are probably ready for a woman president too, we just need a good woman candidate. :)

  5. I had no trouble letting my children watch the Obama speech. I do not like Obama, or his socialist agenda, but I think it is up to the kids to make up their own mind about issues. I don't worry about my children being indoctrinated by hearing one speech. I teach them to look at both sides of things and make up their own mind. That said, I am glad that the White House changed the student writing project away from the original one that was proposed. The one where Obama asked children how they could help HIM. To me, that would be like JFK's famous speech saying "Ask not what your country can do for you, but what you can do for ME!" The President is supposed to serve the country, not the other way around.

And it's true that in 1991 Bush Sr. was investigated for speaking to school kids. The Democrats threw much more of a hissy fit than anyone is throwing over Obama's speech.

This video should make you angry. A teacher browbeating kids to support Obama.

  6. My kids have had their share of teachers spewing liberal talking points at them at the High School already. And how quickly the Dems forget about raising hell over President George HW Bush's 1991 speech. They don't like it when the shoe is on the other foot.

...And he did discuss health care with the kids in attendance of his speech before the national broadcast.

  7. So is it the politicians that are spliting the population down the middle? OR Is it the people and companies who want their own agenda carried forward and vote for those politicians?
It seems to me its more of a universal reflection of the state of our current Society and not just about any one political party.
The sad part is that the change we really need is to quit looking to someone/somewhere else for the answers! Start right here locally!

  8. I think its both. You are right, and they feed on each other. Its a malicious cycle.
The parties use the coporations who use the people who use the parties who use the corporations who use the politicians .....
Neither side seems very interested in changing the cycle though.

  10. Personally I think we need more then one county attorney. Crime has rose in our county or more people are getting caught and they are overwhelmed with the amount of cases.

  11. CC,
They have three Deputy Attorneys as well, all of whom are very capable. Try researching something before you just let your mouth run freely!

  13. cc i think it is partly the states fault for taking so long to test or what ever all the evidence due to money or poor management at labs. just ask mr. clark at homeland about their robbery plea deal. i could be wrong though. d

  14. I'm sure the economy has affected everything all around, including the reasons for more plea bargains. Am I happy with plea bargains, not really, but I do understand the costs of trials that will burden the tax payers pockets even more.

You know JJ, maybe you should see about an interview or live blog with the County Attorney, maybe he could explain some of the reasoning behind alot of plea bargains lately.

  15. Sadly, it's a money issue. Saving money is valued above putting people in prison where they belong. Sometimes it even causes the deaths of innocents. We saw that when Thurber was let go because of the cost of a hospital stay.
